Prognosis of a calf strain

With appropriate management, patients with minor calf strains can usually recover in one to three weeks. With larger tears, recovery may take four to six weeks or longer depending on the severity. In cases of a complete rupture of the calf muscle surgery may be required with intensive rehabilitation to follow. Return to sport or activity may then take 6 months or longer.

If he needs surgery , he is likely out for the year(6 months) unless he returns for the finals .

If it is less severe he could be gone for about a month

If it is minor a few games

I've got to think that it isn't a full-blown rupture; I just don't think he'd be walking around if it was.

They are saying on the post game show its not a knee or an ankle injury, it's a lower leg injury. What else could it be?

Unless they are covering up a knee injury so the fan base doesn't panic like they did 2 years ago

The way he acted it looks like knee/calf. He also moved on it so I doubt was a full rupture or anything like that.

Hopefully just a sprain.

Can anyone find any direct quote from the celtics saying this is a calf injury?  This is speculation by the CSN guys based on a misunderstanding of the C's vague statement that KG had a "lower leg injury".

It's hard to tell looking at it from the outside.

My best guess is that it's a microtear, which isn't that big a deal, that produced a spasm accounting for the knot that's visible in the clip on the front page.

At this point in the season, you probably want to be fairly conservative with the injury. I'd say he's probably shut down for about three weeks to a month.

I hate it when teams say things like "It's a lower leg injury".  I'm not a doctor, but I was pretty sure it wasn't in his neck. I kind of had it figured for "lower leg".  If you don't have something useful to say just say "We checked him head to toe and we're not telling you what it is because we're incompetent and can't figure it out or we just don't want to tell you".

Seems to be plenty of evidence to support the calif injury theory.

Doc said on the post game that it was definitely his calf and not a knee injury.

I actually like it when they do that until they know what the actual injury is.  I hate it when they get too specific, and then have to back off it the next day when the results come in.

To me, "lower leg injury" means...back off until we run the MRI.

I'd assume lower leg meant Achilles rupture.  :-X :'( :(
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Two things:  The Achilles isn't a muscle, and if he ruptured the tendon, there's no way he'd be walking.  I don't think that's it.
