If the injury was on the jump stop this could be his achilles.  Hopefully a strained achilles and not ruptured if it is his achilles.

If it was a ruptured achilles, he wouldn't be walking.

Whatever it is, the real key is that he's back at 100% come the playoffs.  I'll take an injury for 2-3 months if need be.

Also, one would think that if he hurt his knee, he might not have been on his knees at midcourt.

if KG can come back and be the player he was last year the celtics proved they can still make the finals, best case hes back playing how he has been, worst case hes done for the year and the celtics are 2nd round playoff fodder with a potential lockout looming

I don't think Dirk has any history of knee surgery.  An athlete's initial reaction usually tells the true story.

Remember Pierce in the 2008 Finals? Lol. He looked like he got his leg blown off and was dropping treys just a few minutes later.

Athletes sometimes overreact out of nervousness. They know their bodies extremely well, better than you or I. An athlete that has a history is even more likely to react in that manner.

Keep in mind I am saying this as a complete optimist that this isn't going to severely alter our title chances. I'm trying to stay glass-half-full right now because this is extremely unsettling.

I could care less about this game tonight in all honesty, and I haven't said that since the 2006-07 season.

I don't agree at all. I've seen - and experienced - a bunch of calf injuries, and that's exactly what this looks like to me.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Because they have to make sure where the injury has occurred?

xrays only show bone injuries though right? the knee was the thing that was being xray there is no bone in the calf and it was clearly not a broken leg or anything

They would put injury searching nano bots into him if they could.  They would enter the Matrix, shrink themselves and enter his body if that would work. They'd fly in Yoda if they thought it would help.  And I'd be like "That's all you did to determine the extent of injury?"

You never know with any injury...  A calf injury could be in conjunction with a fractured tibia / fibula.  X-rays are pretty much always done as a rule-out.
