I'm usually a big fan of Doc; however, one of the big flaws for Doc since Rondo when out is that he didn't immediately start letting Marquis run the offense with Nate playing the 2.

Glad to see that he's reassessing things.

Doc was playing the match-ups tonight ... I'd be surprised if he stayed with 'Quis at point and Nate at two for every game until Rage comes back, (though it was very effective against the Pacers).

God was this an ugly game.  Quis played well though and won it for us.  We may not have real PG play but he used his match ups well.

Rondo... hury back please!

I watced the game on DVR late. Marquis is much more effective he either handles the ball or is allowed to post up smaller guards. I'm glad Doc made the change to try and jump start our offense.

One huge reason I give it up for Marquis, in addition to his solid play, is that we don't have to have TA threads on here anymore! Marquis has proved every bit the defender that TA was but can also score, pass the ball, and play some point if needed. Keep it up Marquis. This is exactly why some of us were defending you last year!

12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal on 6-10 shooting, while playing great defense.

Most importantly, though, he almost single-handedly got the Celts offense moving again.  Things stagnated a bit under Nate, and Marquis took over and got the guys playing as a team again, rather than as five separate players.

Marquis played incredible tonight, he really kept us in the game. He definitely deserves some recognition for his hard work last night.

He didn't play that kind of defense last year.  He has really stepped it up a couple of notches on that end.  It's great to see.  Hopefully he stays heathly and keeps building on what he is doing.  He was great last night.

Well, it's really not that big of an adjustment.  They still play the same minutes and guard the same people.  Doc just needs to let Marquis bring the ball up.  It won't limit what Marquis does and it will open things for Nate.

Marcus is playing very well, their role is important in Boston.
He can play guard, point-guard and second forward, is a very profitable player

I got all Quisy inside watching the fouth quarter.
“Being a Celtic is, every decision you make is about the team. Every cut you make is about the team. Every pass you make is about the team. You take yourself out of it. It’s not for everyone. If you don’t want to win, don’t want to play team basketball, and it’s more about you then you’re probably not a Celtic." Doc 2010

I don't think he is defending as well as Tony Allen. He doesn't have the same sort of aggressive ball denial or the quick hands creating turnovers that Tony did last year.

I think he played very solid defense last year before his thumb injury.

He's more of a solid positional defender than a disruptive one. He's done a better job of doing so consistently this year, though again you could say the same about his initial stretch last year too...

I agree with this, Tony Allen would play super aggressive D and could really get into people's grill. Tony could really disrupt Kobe at times, but Tony also gambled too much and bit on waaaaay too many pump fakes. Marquis can't play that kind of stifling D, but Keys never bites on fakes and seems to always be in the right defensive position. To score on Keys you almost always have to hit a difficult shot, whereas Tony may not even let you get a difficult shot off, but also may give you two freebies at the stripe.

I think overall its easier to score on Marquis, though he puts people on the line less often. Mostly because he denied easy catches much more often. But also because he's less able to aggressively take players out of their spots.
