I just ran it through the ESPN Trade Machine, it works. Would you guys trade JO and Avery to get one more wing defender in Battier?

Of course. It would be a great deal for the Celtics. I don't think Houston would go for it though.

If you substitute Perkins for J.O., however, I think they would listen.

true on both counts but I wouldn't trade Perk for Battier.  Daniels is handling the backup spot just fine and Delonte will be back pretty soon surprisingly enough (as will Perk).  If they'd take JO and Bradley, I'd consider it but it wouldn't be at the top of my 'to-do' list because although I'd be happy to move JO along to someone else, I'm not ready to kiss off Bradley when we're not in desperate need for the player we'd be obtaining.

No.

I do not trade JO until he is healthy and the Celtics can see how productive he can be.

His trade value is lowered right this minute.

I disagree with the other comments.. I think this is a great trade!

When Perk comes back, we won't be needing JO since we have Shaq and Semih Erden. We can always bring back Rasheed too.  We obviously don't need Avery now either.

Houston would be getting a great prospect in Avery, and he could find playing time there to develop his game. We would be getting one of the best lockdown defenders in the game right now.. Shane Battier has been known to shut down the likes of kobe bryant, rudy gay, etc. in the past.

GREAT TRADE

Has Wallace even hinted at wanting to return to the NBA?

With the injury history of the Celtics big men, it has to be a player a lot better then just a backup 3 to pull the trigger on such a deal.

If it wasn't for the injuries I'd do the deal minus Bradley. I think Battier is a great role player. In my humble opinion, he's a rich man's Posey. The only reason I wouldn't throw in Bradley is because JO is fair value already and I think it's too early to have Bradley as just a throw in. As of right now I can't say yes because we need all our bigs.

So how many trades involving JO will we see in the next week? 5? 10?  ::)

We don't need one less big, and Houston doesn't do this deal anyways.

Agreed - One too many.

Didn't JO impress a lot of folks here with his Defense in the Pre-Season? Not his fault he's been banged up.

I have no reason to believe that he won't return to that defensive Plus for The Green.

I would not do this trade, or any other realistic one for JO.

Terrible PR move. This could turnoff potential FA from coming to Boston, if thats how they going to be treated.

We aren't trading a big for a wing or guard.  People need to get that through their heads.  We need the big depth, it is an asset and one of the best aspects of our team.

Jermaine will be fine everyone needs to relax about it.  It's like they have never seen him be an effective player, he is just hurt/recovering now.  He will be fine.

And I love how everyone throws out Battier like the Rockets have him on the block.  I get why you would want him but he is not so easily available.

No chance Houston bites.  Even if JO plays well, the last thing they need is another injury prone center, who is going to eat into their cap space this summer.

I think they could consider moving Battier for Perk, if they see him as a guy they will sign going forward (although not sure the C's would do it), but JO would just be salary filler and a stopgap with a bad contract (at least given their salary situation), and Bradley has little to no value to put it over the top.

I don't think anyone can argue, with the play of Shaq, and Perk's injury progressing very well.. that trading JO would be a good move. I don't think potential FA's would see that as a negative thing and not sign with us.

JO has underpreformed, been injured and we clearly don't need him with our other 3 bigs are healthy.  All of them are better then he is.
