Read a few more articles hinting at Mayo, ZBo and the other Gasol on the block for contract extensions issues. Though I don't see Randolph and Gasol leaving, Mayo makes more sense(could demand more, and effective big men are harder to come by)
Another article I found this morning was talking about Iranian Center Haddadi being disgruntled for having to pay for stuff that the other players got for free. Discrimination? Not sure, but I wasn't there. Fact is, we need more healthy bigs, and our system allows less talented bigs with work ethic to blend right in(like Semih-en)

We get Mayo, AWESOME, and we add another 7 footer

Memphis doesn't have to pay Mayo, Daniels if he stayed would still be effective and command way less money. Wafer could blend in as a scorer on that team, and Bradley and Lukey are w/e.

I agree our trade pieces are limited but I feel we could get a steal from somewhere in the league just as LA once did, and even Orlando did.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Anybody else think its crazy that they extended conley and now they are going to have to give up Mayo or Gasol?

How does noone understand that Bradely, Wafer, and Harangody have absolutely ZERO trade value... Let alone enough to get a guy like Mayo. Its amazing how frustrating these ideas are.

I think Bradley has some solid trade value, but the Harangody/Wafter do not.

Extend him, no.  The amount was a little to high.

But he is a PG they need.  They have a replacement in place for Mayo.  I see him getting traded so they can keep Gasol.

Right right, didnt mean extend him period, I meant the ammount and now not being able to hang onto others.

I'll think they are nuts if they lock in Gasol/Randolph/Mayo/Gay as their core team.

Great trade.

I saw Mayo's availability coming since last season. I knew management wouldn't pony up the cash when extension time came around. Mayo would be a great back-up and future replacement for Ray. He'd be great playing alongside Rondo as well.

don't forget Conley as their starting PG.

I agree, that's not a playoff starting line-up.  Randolph would be the best chip to use to bolster their team once he's on the last year of his contract.

Not to mention, OJ Mayo has gone on record stating he'd like to play with Rondo. Make it happen, Danny!

Quote
"If I had to choose one to play with, I think it would be (Boston's) Rajon Rondo, just because he gets guys the ball in the right spots," Mayo explained when asked to name the best in the league. "Any scorer or shooter or big man would love to play with a point guard like that."

PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Oops I meant to type Conley/Gay/Randolph/Gasol

Adding Mayo to their long term plans would be the worst move they could make at this point.

I don't see either of these trades mentioned in this thread happening as they are both pathetically in favor of the Celtics.

You want Mayo, you need to start thinking Rondo for Mayo and Conley and work it from there and frankly, I don't see the C's doing that.

I think a package of Nate, BBD and a future 1st or Bradley could get Mayo in a green uniform. I might do that deal, but not during the season. BBD is much too important because of the age and health of our other big men

If the C's did a trade like this in the off-season the C's roster would look like this going forward after 2012

PG: Rondo
SG: Mayo / Possibly Ray at the min
SF: PP
PF: ? (Possibly KG at the vet min)
 C: Perk ( resigned)

If Mayo and Perk were signed passed the 2012 season Mayo would likely get 10 mil a year and Perk around 6 or 7mil per year. That means the C's would be at about 44 mil for the 2012/13 season. That would allow the C's to add a near max level free agent to the young core of Rondo, Perk and Mayo and hopefully have PP, KG and Ray (vet min) to come off the bench or play 20-25 mins a night like Shaq does now
