How valuable do you consider a warm body?
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Until it becomes clear that he's actually recovered from his knee surgery and can be productive, his trade value is pretty low.  If we trade him, it'll most likely be in the off-season, not prior to the trade deadline.

Rather hard to trade him in the off season given he'll be a free agent.

"Perkin's Value" to me is as the center for the Boston Celtics - why do you guys keep wanting to trade away our team ??

if this board was up during the 60's, 70's or 80's, would we have seen posts pondering what the Celts could get in a trade for Heinson, or Cowens, or McHale ???? i doubt it.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

I have been saying they should try to trade Perk for the last couple of years, however at this point, it makes little sense unless some team offers something exceptional (like Battier).

Right now, Perk's value is at an all time low, and he brings a lot more to the table to the C's playoff run than he does in a trade.

So, unless someone gets desperate for a rental of a center and offers something amazing, the C's are better off holding on to him, and then exploring sign and trades this summer if they can't resign him to a reasonable deal.

If that warm body was your starting center when you won the title one year and held a 3-2 lead in the finals in another year, pretty valuable.

Why are you comparing Perk to hall of fame players? Why not compare him to the other guys on the teams who weren't hall of famers? Ainge is more like Perk's level, and Ainge was traded.

Btw, I am not a fan of moving Perk right now. I just didn't think the argument made sense.

Why on earth would any team sign and trade for Perk when he's been injured and probably won't commend any more than the MLE? Makes no sense.

It's tough to project the market with the CBA up in the air (MLE may not even exist), but I would be shocked if Perk does not get significantly more than the MLE (or the equivalent of that in the new CBA) this summer, unless he is completely useless down the stretch for the C's.

Legit starting centers come at a major premium in the NBA.  There will be many teams interested in sign and trading for a guy like Perk this offseason, as long as Danny's demands are reasonable.

Just because he's been injured doesn't mean he'll be an MLE guy.  He was the starting center on two teams in the finals, one of which won it all.  He's a defensive gem and though not a future HOFer, he is regularly undervalued on this board.
