 No way do we trade Bradley for Josh Howard… You can’t be so near sided, Avery isn’t getting real minutes because he’s not ready and this teams has other options ahead of him. But just because he’s not playing this year doesn’t mean he’s not valuable to this team. Danny Ainge has to balance winning now with staying competitive after The Big 3 are gone. 20 Year old, defensive minded, guard, with tons of athleticism… sounds a lot better than 30 year old, injury prone, offensive minded, winger.

Strongly dislike this idea.

By balance, you mean not throw away a future for it.  Bradley is by no means the key to our future.  Albeit little playing time, we've seen nothing extremely promising out of him.  AND if he even does show to be a 2-guard, we would have a very small backcourt duo.

Sure, Avery Bradley COULD turn out to be an all-star.  He also very likely could turn out to be another average joe like Tony Allen.  You don't turn down an opportunity at a championship this year (which Howard would help with) that way you can hold on to a guy who you could likely replace in free agency down the road.

Howard was actually a darn good defender in Dallas, I haven't seen enough of it since then to say if he still is or not.  I would not have called him solely "offensive minded".

Wizs already have there share of projects,Lester Hudson for instance.Why would they want more players they aren't getting much from.Isn't the point of getting Walls and letting Arenas go is to start fresh and rebuild with some decent players?

I am not in favor of selling low on Bradley, but based on how Howard has looked so far in his return, he would be a guy I would absolutely trade him for if Washington would do the deal (doubt they would).

Howard is still a relatively young player, who could be looking at a big raise this summer as a major piece of some team.  If they could use him for a run this year, and then also have bird rights to sign him next year, it would be huge. 

Isn't Howard 31 years old?

30.  By Celtics standards he is young though.  He still has another contract in his prime IMO.

what's with all the "ugh"ing -- it's like i suggested we trade for dwight, not josh.

Im am "ughing" because

1) Why would you bring in a guy like Howard who is oft injured, proven he is a knucklehead, and has had problems in the past with conditioning.

2) Why disrupt the chemistry of the team that is on a 14 game win streak for crying out loud, and only has 4 losses on the year so far. Plus, we are without 4 of our important role players.

3) Do you really think Wafer and Bradley have value that the Wizards would want for Howard? Do you think Bradley and Wafer have trade value for anyone in the league?

Would hate to part with Bradley, especially with Rondo's injuries & minutes, plus injuries to Nate & West.


Wonder if they would take a draft pick next year instead?

1) i don't agree with any of your points here;

2) so you're saying we shouldn't make trades to improve our team, period? because we're scraping by teams in december when the NBA finals occur in june? absurd;

3) Yes, I do think Bradley has value. Leonis has been very clear he wants to stockpile young assets -- exactly as he did with the Caps -- and is willing to take some lumps in the process. Bradley is a talent, regardless of the shortsighted complaining we're seeing on this board about him of late. a month ago he was a teenager....

If re-signing Howard for one year results in receiving the 19th pick in last year's draft, he'd be accomplishing that, no?

1.  We brought in 'Sheed and Nate and maybe even Shaq who are far more known knuckleheads than Josh Howard.  They all turned out pretty well for us.

2.  That I see.  Hate to mess with chemistry, but I had the same fear when we traded Eddie for Nate and that worked out well.  I think they would talk to Josh first to make sure he'd accept the kind of role we are giving him before actually trading for him.

If we could get him for Bradley and Wafer (not all that likely, IMHO), I'd be all over it.  Nate, D-West, Howard, Daniels, Baby, Perkins, JO: incredible depth for a team with a starting 5 as deadly as ours.

Bradley could be a really solid player by 2012, but this year is our best shot at a championship: I want to go all in.

I have 0 concerns that trading Bradley and Wafer would disrupt chemistry.
