I can't explain it but for some reason, it feels like we'd won that Game 7 but in a slightly parallel universe. The Fakers getting those boards and free throws was a result of a hijacked outcome stream. Yes, I know this sounds like a 'Fringe' or an 'Outer Limits' episode but that's how it seems to me.

Thus, this season, we're really on road to capturing what's already ours in a parallel time line. In the end, outcomes converge but on slightly altered timelines. The multi-verse does not approve of Stern, LeBron, and Kobe and thus, tries to restore balance whenever possible.

What's the Celtics' record in the alternative universe?  Did Perk still go down?  Do we still have Shaq, J.O., and Delonte?

;)

None of that matters. All we need to do is find the alternate universe where Rondo hits 80% of his free throws and watch those games.

In that alt-universe, we get one of the O'Neils but not both of them. I suspect Delonte also joins on board.

Now, here's the parallel conundrum ... the multiverse aims for balance but in the search for balance, there are some directives. If true evil were to prevail, then Stern-LeBron-Kobe would have a type of Evil Dynasty together. This is currently being tested/formed over in Miami and for the present moment, all forces are aimed at keeping it from going forward for a season or two.

Thus, in the universe where let's say Rondo hits all his free throws and has an Andrew Toney-like shot, Stern will do all he can to get Rondo on a team w/ either LeBron or Kobe. Realize, this would be a reality farthest away from us and thus, have greater structural integrity issues than the one we presently live in. Hence, to resonate a balanced world, something has to give and for us, it's Rondo's shooting.

Is there an alternate universe where Larry's back doesn't go, Bias doesn't die and we win in 1985, 1982, 1987 etc?

This is interesting ... I believe Bias wasn't meant to be, however, the Celts could have won in either '85 or '87, in some other universe.

If the Bias event hadn't occurred, it would have created a huge imbalance in the multiverse where in effect, Red Auerbach would be a true Master of the Universe and could generate any b-ball future which he decides upon. The multiverse knew that that was too much power for a single man to have and despite its attempts at keeping the Celtics in the general loop, it didn't want the C's to have most of the banners for the past two decades thus making us greater than all the Yankees and the Brazilian national soccer teams of history. Thus, we were stuck with crappy owners for a bit to time. And likewise, it didn't want Bias to eventually end up on the Knicks, Bulls, or Pacers either for fear of another multi-decade dynasty, since those solid teams would never run out of free agents to compliment Bias for two decades. Realize Bias > (Michael or Hakeem).

However, a new evil arose, Stern & Kobe, and thus, balance is favoring the Celtics once again.

This topic is in poor taste in my opinion. Lets worry about winning 18 first before talking about what could have been...

How is life in the alternate (living in denial) universe?

I know we were denied our 18th Championship but that was because we needed a couple of more 3 pointers from Ray Allen and some rebounding support from Perkins in Game 7 so f-face Artest timely 3 ball would not have mattered.

Pride still matters so we need to win this championship in 2011.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

There's a lot more pain for Celtics fans than people realize.

We have a lot to be thankful for, but the idea that we should have won so much more as a franchise is a tough thing to swallow.

It affects me a lot. I don't know if it's just me.

I'm a die hard Celtics fan and I can't even bear to watch one second of the 2010 NBA Finals.

The pain from the 80s and early 90s...

I hope this helps you like it helped me:

When I was 15 an aged, clever, die-hard Celtics fan from the 50s and 60s era was listening to me talk Celts like the nut I am.

I'll never forget what he said "you're going to see good and bad times no matter what...remember...it's just a game."

He said it so nonchalantly but with a wise, experienced mystique. This guy knew the importance of "it's just a game" through personal experience. That's all he said but it was enough for me to write it down.

When heartbreak first hit me, I thought about that quote and it really helped.
