Read a quote from Jermaine Oneal earlier saying he would like to retire a Pacer. Age wise, he should have 5-7 years of playing time left in the tank, but he'll only play about 60% of those games each season due to injury. And with the continuing growing production of Big Baby, why not trade him?

JO,Wafer and Bradley for Posey and Rush

For Indy it makes sense for their lack of size. Outside of an iffy Roy Hibbert, and recently DUNKED ALL OVER Jeff Foster, the Pacers are weak in the paint. JO brings back their good times for a fraction of his previous contract. Wafer gets to play some more minutes after learning how to hustle on D here, and might make some production next to Collison and Granger.

Obviously for us, we take Posey off their hands who can finally back up pierce for 8-12 MPG, and even play PF for a few possessions for us down the stretch in small ball games.
He's definitely lost a few steps since our championship year, but that's why I added in Brandon Rush as insurance now and for the future. He'd be great next to Rondo, and could really learn to play SG/SF from another former Jayhawk Pierce.
Can't stop, Rondo!

That's cool because I certainly don't want a broken down Posey back either.

Just a bad idea all around Rush is contributing for them, why would they take useless guards AB and Wafer for him? Posey and JO are equally bad.

If you consider he doesn't play unless he's playing for a contract, he may have 20-30 years left in the tank if somebody is foolish enough to give him a long-term contract.

Iffy Roy Hibbert? He's going to be a monster one day.

JO isnt talking about leaving now. After his contract expires he will try to sign a minimum contract with the Pacers just to end his career in the city where it was all started. I think its a respectable gesture and something that would be good for him and the NBA. i dont have a problem with it.

He started in Portland, he was drafted by Portland.  Im not crazy about a guy who has given his current team nothing talking about retiring on another team.

He wants to do what they have been doing in the NFL for years.

How many guys have we seen in the NFL return to the team they spent so many years with with a one day contract to just retire?

Baseball too.  Nomar did it just last year.

I think a player who during his tenure with the Pacers sprinted across the court and coldcocked a fan during one of the most disgraceful events in sports history, sued the league to reduce his suspension, Showed a history of playing when he felt like it, and made a fool of himself when calling the NBA dress code racist.  Hardly deserves a respectful gesture.

I'd obviously be on board to trade him to fulfill his fantasy.

Slight difference in legacy between Nomar and Jermaine....

Just slight.

Perhaps, though I think you're underselling how very good Jermaine was for most of his Pacer career. He was just traded much later on than Nomar was.

Without individually quoting here...

Roy Hibbert will be a beast...ONE DAY, not yet

Posey is old, but will at least play some minutes. I see a couple ppl thinking JO sitting on the bench in a suit talking about retiring with another team is better than Posey...don't see it but sure

JO has done nothing for this team, and will likely struggle to play 20 games this year. Trade him. I'm still not a huge BBD fan, but JO to Indy for Posey makes more sense than him sitting on our bench do jack. Plus a 3 for 2 trade opens up a spot for a late season pickup like Sheed or etc
Can't stop, Rondo!

This sounds like a JO-dissenter topic through and through.

Anyways, Pacers don't do this move, so it's moot.
