  • Another undersized Celtic...
There's a great deal of speculation about some significant movement in the East. With Carmelo forcing Denver's hand to move to NY and the possibility of Agent 0 going to Orlando, the gap between the C's seems to be closing fast (at least on paper). Coupled with the Heat's emergence from a sluggish start and Chicago coming into their own, I wonder what everyone thinks, including Danny. Does this light a fire under Doc and Danny? I know we haven't played with 100% of our roster and are still on top of the East despite that, but the teams around us are getting younger, more talented and deeper. On paper we appear older, ailing, and merely mortal. Fortunately, we are still doing what it takes to win, but health may become an issue as we rely on the end of our bench to get us through to January and possibly a bit more. What happens?

Carmelo isn't what the Knicks need, they can obviously score. Plus they would be giving up Galo and/or Chandler if they get him this season, so I don't know what kind of net gain they are actually getting.

Orlando getting Arenas should officially end their title hopes.

Last time I checked, we were 4-0 vs Miami/Chicago. They may not have been at full strength, but we definitely weren't either.

Health. That's ALL we need IMO.

Gimme that once the playoffs roll around and I will go to war against ANY team.

I don't think Danny or anyone on the Celtics feels any pressure to make any major moves this season. If there was a time, it was last season, and it was moving Ray.

The biggest move I think you might see Danny do is dropping one of Wafer/Harangody for another big from the D-League.

Agreed.  I don't see a lot of pressure on the Celts at all.  They've got the best record in the East and have beaten the Heat twice.  They're playing well despite injuries.  Why mess with what's working?

Others teams are feeling pressure to keep pace with US, not the other way around.

Wasn't Greed What brought down the world economy?

Sometimes its OK to be content. Appreciate what you have rather than what you don't have. Especially when you have a roster full of Hall of Famers. Aren't Pierce, Ray, Garnett, Rondo, Perkins, ShaQ, Nate, Baby, Jermaine, Delonte, and Marquis sufficient?

What pressure?

I'll admit - there are some interesting pieces and rumors out there, like G Wallace and S Jackson. But I'd be very hesitant myself to go after one of these guys, no matter how good they look.

I personally commented about getting GWallace in Green earlier today. But I just couldn't part with Perk or Glen Davis for him.

I love our Chemistry too much. Would GWallace or Stephen Jackson really increase our window of opportunity for banners? After parting with important pieces (like we would), how would that affect the team?

I'd rather stand pat. We have the makings of something special right now. NBATV will be talking about this Celtics Team 10-15 years from now as maybe one of the best Teams of all time.

What?

A) What pressure? There really is not...At all.

B) We have yound tradeable talent on this team...? Who would that be because I dont see any from my view.

C) We have Shaq, JO, Perk, and West all coming back in due time. I would say thats enough of an addition right there.

I'd trade Perk and Bradley for Oden.

THis is one place where I learned my lesson last year about doubting the wisdom of Doc and Danny.

If they think these guys put them over the top, than I believe these guys put them over the top.

If Danny think Perkins can go for a Shane Battier or something, I beleive it. I trust this organization completely.

I agree with everyone that has said that the Celtics have no pressure at this point.  Yes, we have a mounting list of injuries, but this is just further proving how deep we are in talent.

No moves that other teams are contemplating right now scare me.  Any of them would have to give up core guys to make moves and that can always backfire.

We, on the other hand, are sitting pretty with a team that plays together better than any team in the leage and they actually seem to like and respect each other even when they disagree.  Doc and Danny have us in a good place and I wouldn't do anything as long as the doctors are assuring us that Shaq, JO, Perk and DWest are coming back on schedule and as expected.

A year ago I would've said you're crazy. Now, I think you're sadly right. Nobody trades a significant asset for Greg Oden at this juncture.
