Size Matters.

What do all recent Championship teams have in common? Control of the painted area. Miami Heat don't have that, and Boston Celtics do. With Perk & ShaQ manning the paint, Lebron will think twice coming in inside. That's 12 hard remember me fouls. You can't put a value on it.

Would love to have Battier. But not at the expense of Celtics depth upfront.

Why would you trade away a big for a backup SF though? Even if all three are looking healthy by the trade deadline why gamble that they won't get hurt?

I think gambling that the O'Neals both stay healthy through a playoff run is a bad one. Especially since Battier would only be playing 15-20 minutes....

If Sheed was back on board, I would consider a big for small trade.

But Battier isn't worth Perk.  Perk's a championship caliber starting 5 in his mid-20s.  Battier's a 32 year old defensive specialist wing.

If you're going to trade away a rock like Perk, you need to get more value. Replace Perk with Jermaine and the trade gets fairer.

2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

First, we need our big depth to exploit Miami, matchup with Orlando and hang with LA in the playoffs.

Second, we can acquire a backup wing for cheaper than our starting center. Yes I know Perk struggles on the offensive end, but we can now throw Shaq in there when Perk struggles and Perk can also learn some offensive tips from Shaq (which I am sure he already has) during practices and such.

I get what you are trying to do, but, after this year we are going to need our center for the future.  And Perk is it.

Battier would be great, but isn't it easier to get his position than a big.  Unless you think Semih is the man.

Boston receives:

Battier...Is one of the best potential fits out there. Can come right in and play tough defense, take charges, make the right plays, and hit the open shot. A better version of 07-08 Posey. The Rockets can plug Courtney Lee in as a starter.

Houston receives:

Perkins...With Yao out, they need a big man. Although, still injured he is set to return relatively soon. Was raised and went to HS in Texas. Could be their center of the future. Celtics will be hard pressed to offer him a big contract, so he could be lost for nothing. In addition, the emergence of Erden makes it easier to part with him.

Harangody...Don't want to part with him, but his upside is pretty limited. At best he's Matt Bonner.

Wafer...Back to Houston. Likely waived. Him and Harangody were used primarily as trade fillers.

Note:

This also frees up two roster spots. This gives us the ability to sign Sheed and/or the usual mid-season buyout.

Can people get over trying to get Battier.  It's not going to happen.

I think we should try to acquire Jamario Moon from the Cavs. He would be a perfect fit to backup Pierce and would be significantly cheaper than Battier.

Eh, I'll take a pass on Jamario Moon.  I think we could do better by dredging the D-League for some athletic guys who can shoot 3's.

No.

I am against trading big for small unless there is a huge talent difference.

I think Perk is more valuable to the Celtics in the playoffs then Battier would be.
I agree plus Perk is the only C ive seen who can play D.Howard straight up without help. Most teams need to double down on him.

A 24 year old, 25 year old, and 26 year old for Shane Battier.

"Harangody at best is Matt Bonner” that’s pretty [dang] good.

Size matter against Lakers, and big men are important when you have to waste fouls on Howard.

People on this board are just obsessed with trading people away for mediocre players on the wrong side of 30.  >:( ::)
