Looks like its not a rivalry until the other team wins once in a while.
Everyone wants truth on his side, not everyone wants to be on the side of truth.

Plus, I think if the C's were at full speed, this is a double digit win.

I also say that D'Antoni teams are always a novelty act.  I said earlier tonight that I don't understand why anyone would hire him because his teams never play defense and defense clearly wins championships.  However, I take that back.  A team that knows it isn't good enough to win it all would hire him, because he can put an entertaining product on the court.

That said, if the Knicks ever get good enough to win a title, they should can him in a heartbeat.

His Suns teams played okay defense for the most part. They just played at a very fast pace. The Suns had a very legit shot at the title in 2006-2007, they just got beat by a very good Spurs team in the conference finals.

(The Suns would have worked Cleveland just like the Spurs did, 5 games if not a sweep)

The Knicks simply are not that good of a team. In the fourth quarter, the Celtics essentially were without half of the 10-man rotation -- no Shaq, JO, Perk, West and Rondo on one leg -- and they still outscored the Knicks by 9 points to win the game. As I said in the game thread, the Knicks have a great player in Amar'e, but basically they are a novelty act.

Felton and Chandler are pretty solid, too.  I'm not sold on the rest of the bunch, though.

But then again, D'Antoni ball is a gimmick.  It can make a mediocre team look good, which is why NYK wanted him, but it makes the other team win.

This game was a gimick.

They hit shots that normally would NOT go in. Anything they threw up at the rim went in, somehow, someway.

The refs gave the Knicks every call possible.

Celtics were getting tackled and fouled all night yet they were rarely called.

We were missing half of our roster, and played with the worst center in the game.

We still won.

Amare is good, the Knicks arent.

I gotta say, I liked what I saw from the Knicks.  Felton has really bought into the system, and Amare has returned to where he was a few years ago when he was a superstar.  Gallinari also is a heck of a player, and is only going to get better.

Now, they are not yet in the same league as the Celtics, but I can't help but like this team.

Unfortunately, they seem deadset on getting Carmelo, and frankly, I am not sure he is what they need.  I think they would be better off finding a big man who can play with Amare, and building some legit NBA depth.  But they want the big name.

I think Iguodala at a cheaper price would be better for this team than Carmelo.  If they got Carmelo they'd be dropping 120 on people but they'd struggle to stop anybody.  Iggy would be a great elite glue guy to complement the Knicks' stars and specialists.

One close game doesn't tell us much. We almost lost to the Bobcats. We were actually down by one when KG hit that final shot. But no one thinks the Bobcats are legit.

It will take more games against top teams to see if we should care about the Knicks. They have had one of the lightest schedules so far, but that isn't their fault. To their credit, the gelled quickly.

By the end of the Knicks upcoming road trip they will be an under .500 team.

You heard it here first.

They don't need more wing players on the Knicks. They need bigs. If we had any of our centers, let alone all three we would have blown them out.

Knicks are improved but they aren't going to win in the playoffs running and gunning.

This stretch they have coming up is going to be rough for them. I liked what Ray said in the postgame. Are they good enough to put another streak together?

Going for Amare's big name (and contract) was a mistake, IMHO.

I don't think you can win a title with Amare as your best player.  Extremely soft defensive player and heavily dependent on his PG and match-up for efficient scoring.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Somebody needs to tell kenny smith that "if there were .2 seconds more the knicks win" means jack because NY LOST.

Listening to this nba crew, you'd think Boston lost tonight.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

Surround Amare with a defense-first center (say, Joakim Noah), a pass-first PG, and a good two-way scoring guard (say, Manu Ginobili), along with role players who play defense, and I think he'd have as much of a chance at a title as any player in the league.

Basically, I think most teams can get by having one guy who plays poor defense if the rest of the team can slow the opposing team down and make them work for their points.  The problem for Amare is that he's never played beside an elite defensive / rebounding center.  If he did, his weaknesses would be largely masked.
