JR Smith doesn't scare me anymore. He's in Ron Artest territory (after he left the Pacers and became ordinary because his crazy defined him so much)..and I don't think he'll reform his image in time like Ron has tried to.

JR Smith would be a terrific addition to the Bulls.

He could turn them into a legitimate title contender ... depending on what they have to give up to get him ... he'd be a fantastic final piece to that starting unit.

He gives them almost exactly what Ben Gordon used to.  Would be a great coup for them if they don't have to give up Taj Gibson.

Still, I don't think the Bulls have a chance at beating the Lakers or the Celtics, if healthy.  Too undersized up front, and above all too young and foolish to beat veteran machines in peak form.

Interesting.

Smith's deal is rather large ($6.7 mil), and expiring. What would Denver want in return?

Is there a combination of prospects, expiring filler, and/or a draft pick that works? Can't see Denver taking back Korver.

Rose
Smith
Deng
Boozer
Noah

On paper that is one dirty starting line up. Add Brewer, Korver, Gibson off the bench... That a heavy starting lineup with a pretty decent 8 man rotation.

Neither Brewer nor Korver are probably all that appealing for Denver.  Both are known commodity role players with a decent amount of guaranteed money next year.  Maybe they like James Johnson as a sweetener.

Not even remotely scary team, he is vastly hit or miss as a player.  Some games he is hot and others he disappears, that isn't the final piece of a contending team, folks.

JR Smith scares me, hes an ideal complimentary player to this team. Three point range, defensive abilities, and ability to run with Rose. Can't think of many players who'd be a better fit for them.

JR Smith doesn't scare me anymore. He's in Ron Artest territory (after he left the Pacers and became ordinary because his crazy defined him so much)..and I don't think he'll reform his image in time like Ron has tried to.

Ron Artest was more responsible than any other Laker for beating us in game 7 last year.  He can still ball.

I think Chicago is a good fit for him, skill & talent wise, but he is crazy. I don't know how he'll fit in with Thibs.

Yes, because he kneed Ray Allen in the thigh early in game 3.

Ron Artest is still a mixed bag, he definitely was valuable to the Lakers last year for his defense, though his offense also cost them something on that end.

This year he isn't as good defensively and his offense is even worse. He's frequently being left on the bench for Matt Barnes or Shannon Brown at crunch time.

Match up wise he's still key to the Lakers winning the title because he's the Lakers only chance to guard Pierce or LeBron.

Anyways back on topic:

I think J.R. Smith added to the Bulls rotation for anything other than the Bulls top 7 players would make them a legit threat to the C's by the end of the year. He's on the last year of his deal so its a relatively low risk move for Chicago depending on how much they'd give up for him.

Can't help but think that if this is going down they may need a third team. Chicago has to be talking Taj Gibson and Ronnie Brewer for Smith but I can't help think that Denver would not want Brewer as they have a defensive stopper at the 2 guard position already in Afflalo and probably don't want his salary.

So it makes sense to find a third team that will take Brewer and send Denver someone they want that has an expiring contract.
