I admit that when erden was discussed 1 year or 2 years ago, my posts were littered with words such "stiff" "big stiff" and "big stiff who has no chance."
Thankfully ainge, and not I, is running the celtics.
Erden has looked better than I thought, and I am happy for it. He is much quicker on offense and has more offensive moves than I thought he would. Earlier this season he looked soft on defense, but has really stepped up and plays better on defuse. (hands up, retreats less, attacks more)
For being the fourth center off the bench he is terrific.
But, as was suggested above, for erden to be the permanent starting center for the celtics in the future..well, that means the celtics will be in trouble.
He is a fine backup, but if he is the starter for the celtics then either perks is dead or the team is tanking for the lotto again.
But for at least one night, erden can bask in at least a little glory and I am happy for him.
