Gotta give some love for Semih tonight.  Big time minutes when the team needed them.

I was the thread starter of "Semih Sucks Bandwagon"

Hes changed, he nearly had a double double tonight with a ton of blocks, the guy is a solid back-up.

Sign me up for the Semih does not-suck bandwagon.

We won by 31 in a game where he played 40 minutes. Sounds good to me.

Actually had a +34.

Count me on the Semih Bandwagon. For him to be so young and so raw still, he is an NBA player for sure.

It will be interesting to see him continue to grow and how he will be in a year or two.

His contributions in each game are definitely needed. Nothing too flashy out of him, but he's producing and not hurting the team at all.

I've been thinking that these minutes he's been getting are probably going to pay off down the road.  He's got some skills, great size, mobility, etc., and experience at the Worlds last year on a winning squad.  He's going to be a player.  No need to be too tough on a rookie when they shouldn't even be expected to play.

Startling prediction:  Erden is the future starting Center of the Rondo era.

Tp.

That was my impression when i first saw him in summer league. I thought he was a bum. Then I did a 180 at the 2010 FIBA World Championship. He was Turkey's defensive anchor, and helped lead them to a silver medal. Strange how things transpire sometimes. Gody was the star in the summer league, he can't sniff minutes. Meanwhile, the 'BUM' is shining in his rookie season. Danny Ainge strikes once again.

Semih is making Danny Ainge look like a genius again.

Hope someone passes on the love to Semih. I know Doc, the coaching staff and the bigs on our roster have got to love this guy. He is pure and unspoiled, nothing but loyalty with uncompromising effort, never gives up. Regardless of the outcome, all this guy does is play and give honest effort.

Can we keep him Danny, please?

Ha! I called it before the season started...this kid is turning out to be pretty good.

he had the highest +/- of any celtic tonight at +34

I dont think anyone on our team has had a +/- that high all year
Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

I admit that when erden was discussed 1 year or 2 years ago, my posts were littered with words such "stiff" "big stiff" and "big stiff who has no chance."

Thankfully ainge, and not I, is running the celtics.

Erden has looked better than I thought, and I am happy for it. He is much quicker on offense and has more offensive moves than I thought he would.  Earlier this season he looked soft on defense, but has really stepped up and plays better on defuse. (hands up, retreats less, attacks more)

For being the fourth center off the bench he is terrific.

But, as was suggested above, for erden to be the permanent starting center for the celtics in the future..well, that means the celtics will be in trouble.

He is a fine backup, but if he is the starter for the celtics then either perks is dead or the team is tanking for the lotto again.

But for at least one night, erden can bask in at least a little glory and I am happy for him. :)
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Semih really gutted it out tonight.  Had a terrible start with Mohammed scoring at will against him and really had trouble rebounding in the 1st half, but he didn't put his head down and started pushing people around in the 2nd half.

Still think he sucks, but definitely earned some praise with his work tonight.

If Semih were 20 and not 24, we'd all be ecstatic.  But he is 24 and I think that makes many folks wonder how close he is to being a finished product. There is no way of knowing, but he has sure exceeded expectations.

I hope what we are seeing is a young guy with good big man skills who still has a ton to learn about playing in the NBA. Also I hope that, like many NBA big men, he needs some time to grow into his body -- develop more strength and coordination.  It's impossible to know his ceiling, but he's shown me nothing that says that it can't be reasonably high.
