Seeing what he can do this year with very good minutes, as well has spot starting in years past. I think Big Baby has to stay. A lot of people say no because he is a small PF but he really shows heart and knows the game well. He has a consistent 15-18 foot jumper, Finishes well around the rim, runs the pick in and roll/pop very well, and I think a very good defender. I think you keep him with Rondo and Perk as the future and add a few pieces we could be a very good team in years to come. I love what Baby is bringing to this team and think we should lock him up A.S.A.P!

It all depends on the price and the new CBA.

Given his limitations and his likely contract demands I don't think we'll keep him.

Exactly it all depends on the new CBA.  I for sure would really like him to stay though.

Like others have said it'll come down to cost.  If I had to guess, I think he'll find himself in the exact same situation as he was the previous Free Agency:  not a lot of starting role offers and the likelihood of coming back to Boston as a bench player.

However, this time around I expect him to pull a Tony Allen and bolt for the promise of more minutes.  I don't see a team offering him a sizeable contract though.

Agreed, when this awesome ride comes to an end and Paul, Ray and KG aren't walking through that door, I would be confident with Baby starting along side Rondo. Sure he lacks size, but the guy can almost always get his shot off, this current team would be in a lot of trouble without him. If the C's are able to sign a top line PF in the future too, we already know that Baby is a more than solid backup.

He is playing his way out of Boston.

He will receive a contract that is to big for the Celtics.

Ainge has worked hard to have a clean slate around Rondo for the post 3 star era.  Davis, while playing excellent right now, isn't good enough to give up the clean slate.

I hope he will take the MLE.  Remember people were complaining about him not being worth the MLE?  Would you rather give it to Jermain O'Neal or Baby?  His present contact is looking like a nice steal. 8) Definitely one of the steals in the draft.  He is definitely a must re-sign.  Where would the Celtics be without Big Baby right now?

There are some pundits who didn't believe Davis was a capable starter in this league.

He's putting up 15 and 7 off the bench...those are some delicious numbers.

I can see that.

But a "capable starter" being payed is not worth giving up the clean slate around Rondo.  That is needed to add a player that is a lot more then "capable".  Add the "capable" after.

If you only put up 15/7 per 36 minutes they're not delicious. Not for a starting big man, not for the sort of money BBD is going to probably look for.

Right. For comparison, Al Jefferson puts up 17/9 in 36 and earns well over 10 million per season. So how much do you think 15/7 should earn you, and how much do you think Davis will be asking for?

Al Jefferson signed that deal as a player with better height who was putting up 17/11 per 36. He then went on to put up 20/10 type numbers on a per 36 basis. All while being a primary offensive option rather than a secondary one. His current production is well below his contract. Though he's shown flashes of getting back to form.

People dismiss how valuable two extra boards are a night, two extra possessions for your team is huge!

I think Baby will be looking for MLE type money and higher, probably around 6-8 million per year (for 4+ years). That's way to much to pay for a big man with BBD's limitations, especially in a rebuilding situation.

Again this all depends on the CBA, and also how Danny approaches building around Rondo going forward.

It is absurd to think that a Glen Davis is worth less than the MLE. Absurd.

For a rebuilding team? Why would you think that?

15/7 and Baby is not a #1 option.

He might be the 5th or 6th option.
