Above is a link to a story on Espn Boston arguing Shaq should be an All Star.

Obviously Howard starts for the team, but should Shaq make the squad over guys like Noah (leads east in boards), Horford (made it last year), and Bogut (my pick for second best center, assuming Gasol is a PF)?

I hope he does, but I am not so sure he is truly deserving. Boston bias aside what do you think?

Also if KG doesn't get voted in as a starter do you think he makes it either as a Forward? Guys he would likely be competing with are LeBron, Pierce, Bosh, Amare, Josh Smith, and Danny Granger.

I think he deserves it but I could see  him getting screwed. I think Smith, James, and Amare are definitely in. So I could see coaches only choosing one Celtic and I think Pierce might get the nod. Thoughts?

I guess it might actually be a good thing if they don't play in the game and get the rest.

I'm too biased to give an answer.  ;D

Shaq is entertaining, so despite whether his play so far this season warrants it or not... he is a person a lot of people tune in to watch! Did you see him the yr b4 last? Pure fun to watch... ON (Co-MVP) and OFF (dancing his big butt off) the court!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I think KG, pierce and rondo are shoo-ins...
As for shaq, if this was his last year, maybe they'll give him a spot (a-la-Jordan)..
Is Amare listed as a PF? if he's a center, KG has a chance to be voted as a starter..

It depends where some guys are listed for posistion.
Howard
Lopez
Bogut
All centers who should be ahead of the big guy.

Shaq is the one guy that should make the allstar team just because he's Shaq.

Disclaimer:  Of course I'm only saying that now because he's a Celtic. :P

Have you looked at lopez's stats or watched his play?

He's regressed hugely, no where near an all-star right now.

ps-as i've said many times all star game is fan balloting, doesn't mean the best players, allen iverson might be voted as starter this year  ;)

No worries guys, I'm not sure about Shaq, but as far as KG goes, he'll be the starting PF, thanks to international voters who go by the name they know the most, and not by recent play or new up and coming stars. Europe and Asia will ensure that KG is there.

How many Centers usually make the all-star team?if it's 3 then Shaq should definitely be one of them with Dwight Howard and Bogut being the others.

No way should Brooke Lopez be on the all-star team. Shaq has totally dominated him every time they played this year.

Lopez is the new Chris Bosh, everyone hypes him up,  but the truth is he puts up numbers on a bad team, doesn't play defense at all, is very soft and doesnt rebound like a 7ft should.

our starting lineup could all be all stars - though that probably won't happen

To further pour on Brook Lopez, he's rebounding at a worse rate than Glen Davis this year. He is also shooting .44 eFG%.

  • Rondo = Good
Bogut hasn't really played at an All-Star level so far this year, either (not played enough, started slow). He's rounding into shape recently, though, and may be good enough to make it.

Other East All-Star caliber centers include Howard, Noah, and Horford.  Hibbert is on the cusp but doesn't rebound well enough (though he's probably in the lead for MIP at this point).

I think Amare may be listed as a center, in which case he'll be voted in as the starter.  Otherwise, he's an All-Star PF, along with  Garnett and basically nobody else.  All the other All-Star forward slots should go to SFs; Lebron as starter, then Pierce and Granger.  Perhaps Josh Smith will get voted in by the coaches, too.

You think Amare will beat out Howard for the voting? I've never paid a ton of attention to the votes but Dwight prancing around in a cape during the dunk contests probably counts for a lot with the voters.
