I think he'll be just fine once he gets healthy, but the way he plays through injuries is commendable.
I agree.  It's in stark contrast to, uh, well, never mind.

Bradley reminds me of Tony Allen as a rookie, with a better jump shot.  His defense is very exciting; his point guard play on offense is lacking.

Not me.  TA attacked the rim with a vengeance his rookie year.  Used to get those fly by putback jams fairly frequently.  Bradley plays very nice on ball D though.  On offense, I don't think he has a great handle.  Reminds me of Gabe Pruitt the way he dribbles and rarely attacks the rim.  I agree that a stint up in Maine would probably do the kid a lot of good, but with our injury situation, that's probably not in the offing.

Bradley reminded me of Doc in the old days. Same "hunched-over forward" style of play.

Grande last night said he thought Bradley should be up in Maine.

I think Gody's the one who is hurting for being down here.  But with three team members out injured of course they can't go anywhere.  But maybe in a couple of weeks they can dress JO again at least--and ship Gody up where he belongs.
Yeah, I like the idea of Bradley going to the D-League and getting more experience as a starting point guard. I think that would be good for him.

I see no value in Harangody playing in the D-League. He has enough game experience in college basketball. I don't think he'll learn much from it. Better off staying here with the Celtics and playing against NBA level athletes and defenders in practices.

Neither of them are going to the D-league. Celtics need bodies for practice because of all the injuries.

I disagree.  I think there is a bid difference between college and the NBA...as much as between high school and college.  Can H. S. players make it to the NBA?  Certainly some have, Kg, Kobe, etc., but it is not common.  NBA is faster, players are larger, and the season is longer than college.

Doc generally doesn't send guys down to the D league until we get to a point in our schedule where we don't have much time to practice. He seems to think they develop better practicing with/against the regulars under the supervision of our coaches.

I was at the game yesterday, so this was my first time seeing all of them in person.

Bradley can really latch on to anybody on the defensive end, his first play was a full-court press that he still stayed with Farmar(?) through a tough pick. He is confident in his midrange jumper (as expected) and is quicker than I expected, but he is not ready. He could really benefit from the D-League, it's really a shame DWest got hurt.

Harangody definitely hustles, but boy is that shot Shawn-Marion-esque. When it's falling, you can't complain. When he is clanking shots, you just shake your head. He's basically Scal v2.0, but not as polished or smart. He does rebound better and is more athletic (obviously).

Wafer has such an effortless shot that I am almost surprised when any of his open jumpers don't go down. I think it is mental right now and hopefully he works it out soon so he can give this team the lift it needs with West out and Rondo battling nagging injuries. He's putting in work on the defensive end, so once that shot starts dropping he should be a solid rotation player.

I've been very surprised by Wafer's defense.  It's been downright impressive.  I wouldn't mind giving him some minutes for some real offense when Baby's shot isn't falling/Marquis is being inconsistent/Nate not looking for his own shot/Erden is being a typical rookie.  If he can drain those shots like w know he can, he could really help out our offense until Delonte gets back.

As of right now Bradley isn't half the player Tony is (or even was as a rookie) so I don't get the comparisons.  He's a great defender but I don't know if he's shown enough yet to deserve minutes.

I like Harangody and wouldn't mind pairing him with Baby in the second unit against smaller frontcourts,
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Erden is our 4th string center who to me has done way way beyond expectations already this year
Bradley, really love his defense, I'd like to see him end up being a backcourt mate with rondo in the future, yes undersized pair of guards but the defensive speed those 2 possess is downright scary , his shot is good but his pg skills aren't there and I don't expect him to develop them this year at all even if he got pg playing time
Harangody, is an nba rebounder, not ready for prime time playing this year at all, nice jumper don't care what it looks like but his defensive work is BAD, his upside is a 10 year career as a bench nba player but even if he developed into a end of bench 'tweener for us that is fine for the draft pick
Wafer-don't buy any of it,nice looking jumper but its like watching world b free or worse out there, he gets it sure he's confident on offense because its shoot only , 90% of the time
I'd rather have all other guards in at any time, let me rephrase I don't want him on the team and I seriously doubt he's a celtic by end of the season

Bradley has some Dunk contest titles. Would love to see him be more aggressive taking it to the hole. He has the quickness to blow by most defenders, he just need the confidence.

I'll be patient on that. When he has his bearings on the offensive end, I'm sure his game will diversify. For now, open pullups look good to me while focusing on moving the ball around.

  • You say when......
Erden is good, has heart, and when well, will keep getting better, wafer, a maybe, needs to be seen more....Bradley..HE should be playing A LOT more, no real excuse now, this is the time to develop him, before the second half, with these inuries, it is BRADLEY time, if you don't play him now....it is a duh moment, what will we do if we have late season injuries, and we didn't break him in, in this part of the year when we could, i don't want injuries, but they happen...especially when the NBA lets the lakers inflict them without any consiquences..!!!!!!!

It is often important to not frustrate young guys by playing them when they are less than 100% physically as Bradley was, or when they aren't ready for the competition.

Easing him in is a good thing, especially as a young 1 year college player. His ability to contribute through all 4 years of his rookie contract and beyond is more significant than his ability to make spot appearances later in the season, though both would be nice if possible.

It would be bad to have a demoralized player later in the season as a result of throwing him into the fire abruptly.

Yeah. I think people overestimate the competition level in college. The talent pool is incredibly diluted in college since the best players don't stay there and most players aren't even good enough to play professionally in decent leagues abroad.

Look at how the other bigs drafted this season are performing in the NBA. Hardly impressive, and many were drafted in the lottery. Gody wasn't even facing those top guys regularly.
