Yes you cut Von Wafer and sign Rasheed for the veterans minimum prorated under two conditions. First Rasheed is in shape and second that he doesnt get any technicals(as if this would happen) With the new rules we cant afford for Wallace to be yapping at the refs.

As of right two of our three healthy bigs are 34 and 38. If Shaq or Garnett go down we are in big trouble. Erden is banged up. Who knows what we will get from Perkins or Jermaine this year. So if Wallace wants a job the Celtics should give him one.

Rasheed would be an upgrade over Semih in my mind.

I don't want to cut von Wafer because that would leave us with way to little depth on the wing.

Ditto. Sign Sheed but don't cut Wafer.
Send Harangody to Maine instead.

No. Sheed won't last in today's NBA. He would get 2 techs a night. Especially in the playoffs.

He will do more harm than good for this squad. There are better options if Jermaine continues to be a non-factor.

Sending him down doesn't free up a roster slot, we'd have to cut him.

Von Wafer does not constitute "depth."

"Depth" is having an abundance of rotation-worthy players available on any given night.  VW is not rotation worthy.  He's just a guy of a certain height taking up a roster spot.  He's not going to get better, either.

He can either be cut or traded to a team with salary issues for a little bit of immediate relief, perhaps with a pick, some cash, and that loser JO's contract...

...and if Sheed was available and in-shape to come back, that's exactly what I'd do.

So if Pierce/Ray get hurt we have to go out and call up a d-league player? No thank you.

Even if he's deep depth, he's still necessary.

Agreed.  It would make a lot more sense if we traded Baby for a wing.

I would be fine with Sheed as a 4th/5th big especially if paired with a guy like Perk or JO instead of Baby.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

That was my first thought.  If he wanted a job playing ball why would he go to Chicago?

How many bring back Sheed threads is this already?  I'll say it again, I definitely wouldn't mind him back.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

as much as i like sheed and appreciate his effort in the Finals, but what happens when JO and Perk comes back? hows the rotation going to be

KG/JO?
Shaq/Perk/Sheed?

what happens to BBD

I mean Perk might not be a 100%, but hows that compare to JO when he comes back?

will BBD play SF instead? No hes slow vs other SFs (Lebron, Melo, etc)

I mean Im not Doc, I dont know what he will plan but with Sheed back with us, there will be minute issues and rotation issues? Unless you just divide 15 minutes each, or just whos hotter that night gets more minutes

If our team is 100% healthy Sheed wouldn't play in the playoffs.

Cutting Harangody for Sheed is a no-brainer.

I would wait until buyouts are complete to bring Rasheed back.  If our current roster is healthy, there's not a ton of room for Rasheed.  That's no problem if he's taking Wafer's roster spot, but if a SF becomes available, that would be a better choice.
