Quote
Old friend Rasheed Wallace visited the Garden for Friday’s game and made a couple of appearances in the Chicago locker room to see old friends Tom Thibodeau and Brian Scalabrine. First Wallace crashed Thibodeau’s postgame press conference, shouting, “I need a job!” Soon after, he peeked into the Bulls’ locker room and mimicked the often-heard chant of “Scal-a-bri-ne!” to his former teammate.

Did Thibodeau think he was serious? “I don’t know,” he said with a chuckle. “He’s a good player.”

Wallace retired during the offseason after the Celtics bought out the final two years of his contract and waived him in August. Mounting injuries have left some wondering if Boston might give Wallace a ring to bolster its own frontcout down the road.

With what Jermaine has shown so far, and Semih’s injuries (despite his ability to fight through pain), I think that this would be a no brainer. Think about turning Semih’s minutes into Rasheed Wallace minutes… it’s straight frightening.

They might as well sign him if he is "in good shape" but they need him to stay in the fricking paint. If hes going to be on the perimiter bricking threes all game and not giving us an inside presence then hes useless. Might as well use Semih who is in the paint on both ends of the floor being a big body.

Yea but defensively Sheed is so much more trustworthy. And I think he’s in decent shape but could be really inspired by the fired up Shaq/KG combo.

Plus Doc and Danny learned there lesson, they now understand that the bigs belong down low.

if he's in good shape and if he can keep his ego checked and accept a bench warmer role, then they should sign him. when Perk and JO get healthy, they'll be ahead of him in the depth chart. defensively, he's so much better than Semih. Sheed is a very elite post defender.

If they can assign Semih or Bradley or Harangody to the D-league, will that free up a roster space? if so, and once again, sheed needs to fill out those 3 requirements i've stated above, signing sheed would be a no-brainer. maybe in February when the playoffs are nearing

If he is playing with Perk and Shaq, Wallace's love for standing behind the 3pt line won't be a big deal. Especially if he is on the floor with Daniels and Shaq/Perk.

Still, I have been amazed at how effective we are when our KG and Shaq mess up their spacing and end up next to each other in the low post. Seems to always end up KG assist and Shaq dunk.

We seem to lack 3 pt shooters this year. We have Pierce, Ray, Nate, Delonte (who is out), and Wafer (who should never play). No one else on the team has an acceptable 3pt shot. Adding someone else who can hit a 3 would be a good thing.

Adding Wallace would be all about his defense anyway.

Rasheed Wallace could get a job in the NBA as a player for a team if he wanted it that badly, i just think its Rasheed being Rasheed.

Allthough i would love to see him back for the playoffs i just dont see it happening.

I think our team hasnt been shooting as much threes last year because KG is healthy and attacking the paint, as well as Shaq being a constant force.

Last year, if I remember we were basically a jump shooting team, that shot a ton of 3's.

This year its like we score most of our points in the paint. Correct me if im wrong.

Sorry. I like our chemistry at this exact moment. I like how we play hard.

I would not want another year like last year.

Blaming it all on 'Sheed would of course be wrong, but I hate having to face-palm-slap my face every time he chucks up a three.

I would agree but weve already seen that this Celtic team mails it in without Sheed in the line-up.

If everyone is healthy, which of course won't happen, Sheed is in a battle for the 12th spot on the roster.  KG, Perk, the O'Neals and Baby are all ahead of him.  Wafer's replacement/a third 3 could slip in ahead of him based on positional need.

Please return to the Celtics Sheed

I think the Celtics need to sign Sheed, especially for the playoffs, we know the state of Perk, and have another big man in the painting would be important.

In the end it's true what Pierce said about Sheed?

"Take the kids everywhere. We'll see you in February"

I think Boston would be more dangerous and even better team with Sheed.

Yep, I dont see how anyone can maintain this team taking quarters off was due to sheed last year when they do it all the time right now.

I think it's due to being old, personaly. they try to save some energy when they get big leads and sometimes it backfires.

I feel the need, the need for sheed....as a 5th big man :D

the sheed thing is interesting. think about this.

lets say we sign him tmrw and assume hes in the same exact shape as he was last year during this point of the season. we need have erdin, shaq, and wallace at the moment.

what is doc going to do in the next game? he will not play erdin and will go with sheed. why? because when given the chance, doc loves benching the young players for the old ones.

its true erdin's defense is nowhere near where wallace's is, but hes a rookie. and hes playing hard at both ends of the court. you really see him banging for rebounds and working down low. we all know sheed would never do that unless by mistake he was standing down low.

this is a rare opportunity where we are giving a rookie minutes during the season. remember when we did that with powe? was the result? he dropped 20 on the lakers in the finals. at that point of th eplayoffs, doc had enough trust in him to play him big minutes and he hustled. erdin is right now earning that trust. i really dont want that to get jeopardized.

if its understood by everyone (doc and sheed) that erdin is ahead of wallace in the depth chart and that carries over into games, then i think we do it.

also, i feel like shaq is long overdue to miss a game or two so the need is there for a 5th big.

One of the end-of-the-bench guys has to go if they sign Sheed.  With Delonte out I think that's much less likely than it was a couple of weeks ago.
