I was thinking about this as I was listening to Chris Broussard on ESPN this morning.  His point was that when stars lose, they rarely blame themselves.  It is often the coach or the support cast that get blamed.

I don't think I would want the coach the Heat.  Talk about a no win situation.  Anything less than a title and you failed as a coach.  No matter what you do, LeBron will probably not be happy.  Who would want to coach in that situation?

I think Riley is smart enough to recognize this and won't coach.  Same for Doc and anyone else (of established coaches) I can think of.  About the only one who might do it is Jackson.  Then he could say he coach MJ, Kobe, and LeBron to titles.

Well, they're not the Celtics...

...but yes, I'd do it and enjoy it.  Of course, it might be a short stint with a coach-killer like Lebron, but there is no doubt it would be a title-or-bust gig.  Those are gambles worth taking.

Sure I'd do it.  You just got to go in with a plan, and mine would be this:

I'd shake things up right away.  The first sign of disagreement or disrespect from LeBron (and knowing LeBron's ego, this wouldn't take long), I'd bench him right away (I would still play him, just wouldn't start him).

Sure I probably wouldn't last a week, but I'd immediately become a national news story (if I wasn't already for coming out of nowhere with no real playing or coaching experience to coach a "championship contender") and I would instantly develop a great rep as a no-nonsense coach who actually has the guts to stand up to LeBron.

I would then parlay that new found fame and respect to land myself a real cushy job.  Maybe another coaching gig, but some place easy like Memphis where they don't care and nobody would notice if I was doing a bad job, I could milk that multi-million dollar coaching salary for years before anybody would notice that I didn't have a clue.  Or better yet, I'd take an even easier gig, and just become an analyst on Inside the NBA or something like that.  I'd fit right in next to Charles making outlandish statements and opinions.  See it's all about having a plan  ;D

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Sure, it is a terrific opportunity.

A head coach could spend his entire career in the profession and never be in as good a position as would have with the Heat.

It is an incredible job.

The Heat already have a coach.

He's the same guy who coached the Cleveland Cavaliers last year.

If you benched the messiah, Riley wouldn't fire you....

Stern would.

Riley wouldn't have put this roster together if he didn't intend to coach it.

Spoelstra is a sacrificial lamb at this point.

I disagree - the move was a huge success before the team even played a preseason game - at least financially.

I don't know Pat, but until the team is more competitive, I don't think we will see his return to coaching.

Lebron?

When the messiah can lambaste his coach in a press conference and only has to make a sorta kinda "it was taken out of context" retraction....It's patently obvious who is coaching the team.

I would wanna coach If I get to trade Lebron for the offer I like. Such as Perk, Baby, Nate, and a bag of twislers.

In today's nba there are star handlers and a few coaches.  Paul Silas tried to coach James early on and was fired because he wouldn't roll over.  Mike Brown appeared to let Lebron do what ever he wanted.  Young Mr Spoelstra is a good up and coming coach.  Will the "star" player listen to his coach to do what is best for the team? ::)
I believe that Lebron quit on his team and city last year and do not think he has it in him to be the player he could be.  I still can't believe people were comparing him to larry bird  :P
