I think most view Delonte's addition as improving our title chances, but his loss does not greatly hurt our title chances.

The key is depth here; we did not have Delonte for the first 10 games and we go 8-2.  We won the last 2 with playing on 2 quarters.

Just imagine how are season would be going if we did not sign Shaq with JON being on the shelf; again depth.

Now just imagine how dominant we will be when/if(?) JON Perk Delonte all come back healthy, and assuming everyone else stays healthy as well.

The Celtics a good enough to play with out West in the regular season and not miss a beat.

But like Perk, West will make this a very deep team come playoff time.

Not so much cheated as disppointed.  As others alluded to, this team is a contender with or without him.  But he is an exciting and energizing player and is a guy I root for on many levels.

What I don't get is why some folks here seem to think there is a good possibility that he'll be out for the season.  I may have missed it, but isn't Tanguay the only one in the media who has put forth this dire prediction?  If so, isn't that just idle pessimistic speculation -- as in, if everything goes as bad as possible he could be out for the season.   Frankly, the same could be said for any Celtic.  I prefer to think he'll be back and fresh just when we'll need him most.

It is a long season.  If all goes well come playoff time:
pg rondo delonte nate
sg ray delonte marquis/nate
sf pierce marquis ray
pf kg davis
c shaq jermaine perk kg

Subs who shouldn't garner any playoff pt, bradley, erden, wafer, luke
That is one deep team.  Nate is 3rd string at pg or sg.  We'll have 4 starting level centers, ok 3 one is pf who can play there very well.  Main thing is we know we'll have some "old timers" taking a break here and there or nursing injuries.  We know both delonte and marquis will miss time as they generally do.  As long as everyone is healthy going into playoffs OR we don't have major injuries at the same time we'll be fine.
I really want to know what is up with jermaine oneill, what was the procedure?

Yup, it is a rip off.....he was looking good, he was our X man.......two go at it guards like that, and he looked good when he started...really good.....it is an eye opener to the injury thing....that is why doc needs to keep playing the players who are on the team...see what we have.....

I felt cheated when Perk had a freak knee injury in game 6 against the Lakers and then losing game 7 because we had no one to rebound.

Losing West for half a season?  Nah.

...see what we have.....

We have a large number of injury-prone players that, due to propensity to miss time due to injury at any moment, cannot be relied on.

Delonte
JO
Perk
Quisy

That's pretty much the bench, positions 2-5, and each one of them has never more than one foot on the court, with the other on a banana peel...and 3 of the 4 were signed this offseason, so this wasn't a chance assembling of players.  Danny gambled on health as a strategy for building a talented bench.

It wasn't a freak knee injury, it was kobe kicking his leg out from under him while he was up getting a rebound....then the nba got rid of that view from under the hoop that showed it..2x.! The only view shown since was the one from behind the lakers bench....the freak part is that they let it go, and removed the REAL view.....(and doc let it go also).

Yes Redz, very disappointed. Whenever this team is fully assembled it should be a well oiled machine. Lets hope by may that is the case.

It sucks because he was just starting to get used to his role.  As mentioned it's a loss that will hurt the scoring for the 2nd team but, the C's should be fine with the current roster for the regular season.  Hopefully he's back around the same time as Perk and they can both gradually work their way back into their respective roles.

Grown Ups -20/10

As long as he comes back before the playoffs and can get his game going again then I don't feel cheated. I do feel sorry for him however.

I broke my wrist last January and it took about 3 months to heal to the point I could use it much. I know every injury is different but I don't see how he could come back faster then that. For one it would hurt to try and shoot and it takes time to get strength and movement back,

I was put in a removable cast so I could take it out and move it just a little every day to keep it from locking up. The doctors said that if it was in a normal hard cast it would take much longer to get the motion back. Anyone know what kind of cast West has on now?

I don't feel cheated.   He is always somewhat injury prone as he plays hard.   It hasn't really hurt us at this point.  We were not going to go the whole season without injuries better Delonte than one of the big three.

Sorry to hear about the wrist, Onslaught. The recovery time would therefore be extended so it doesn't look hopeful for Delonte. I'm disappointed and was really looking forward to watching him. I'm sure he is the most disappointed of all. What a tough break for him, on top of everything else.

Well the "good news" is that I've not seen anything about it needing surgery. I was borderline with needing it. But the Doctor's said that it probably wouldn't have helped much long term and it would take much longer to get back to normal if I had it.

If West didn't need any surgery too then perhaps this season isn't a loss. You can come back from something like this faster if they don't cut you up.  But this is just all speculation. Every accident is different.

IT's his right wrist, not his shooting hand.

Thats the one bright spot in this whole thing.
