I was really looking forward to seeing Delonte play on this year's team.  I was patient for those 10 games, but having him out for a really long time (maybe the year?) has me feeling cheated.

I wonder if we'll ever get to see this team as a whole? Hopefully in June, huh.  :)

Get well Delonte, Perk, JO

Yup

This is why ive felt from the beginning of the season, there is no other team "on paper" better than the 2010-11 Celtics. Its just the waiting to see when/if it will ever materialize what concerns me.

I was surprised there werent more threads, or media hype on how much a of a blow/loss losing Delonte is. But then again given his off the court issues not really surprised.

It sucks bad. I doubt we will have him this year either.  :(

Let's also keep in mind that he could be back earlier than we expect.  I don't know where all of this "Delonte won't be back until the playoffs" is coming from.  He broke his arm.  But your average break takes less than two months to heal, which would put us towards the end of January.  Even if it's bad, we're looking at the trade deadline (mid-to-late Feb.), not the start of the playoffs.

I don't only feel cheated but believe the team is not at it's best without him. We can survive regular season games but really need him come playoffs. In fact all the stars have to align for the Celts to survive post season games.

Yes, but i also feel cheated by no JO.  He took the whole MLE.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

We will see him when we need him, down the stretch and in the playoffs.

It's hard to feel "cheated" when the team is still playing at an elite level without him and we aren't the one's signing his check. Why not feel cheated by no JO or Perk?

The only time I really felt "cheated" was in 2009, when I believe if we had KG we could have defended our championship. But we were never even given the opportunity. Last year was tough to swallow (understatement), but we definitely had our chance despite not having Perk that last game.

I'm sadden for him. :'( Delonte had a lot of obstacles to overcome and this compounds it. Hopefully his teammates & the organization keep his spirits up, and keep him involved. Fast recovery.

The person who really got cheated here is DWest. Comes to us for short $$ to rehabilitate his image and revive his career.

He really landed in what was the best place for him. Supportive atmosphere, execs and coach who didn't want him to go in the 1st place (but Ray was too enticing to pass up), former teammates who genuinely liked him (PP, Shaq, Perk, BBD), a team whose second unit would greatly benefit from his skill set and energy, and an environment to which he was accustomed: everything in place to help him fight his demons and get a decent payday next season or at least the season post-lockout. If there is a lockout next year, the poor kid gets screwed even more. DWest got cheated, ironically, for leaving it all out on the floor (literally and figuratively).

The kid needs a break, a good one, not like the one he got and didn't deserve. Good Luck, DWest, you deserve it.

Certainly don't feel cheated, but it's looking more and more like Danny's gamble may not pay off.  He gambled on known talents with questionable health/reliability, and it looks like JO and West may go in the loss column, with Shaq in the plus column.

Will that be enough?  Only if Erden develops very quickly over the course of the season, or Danny figures out how to make lemonade out of JO after December 15th.

I'm sure Lakers fans feel cheated about Bynum.

Hard to feel cheated the way KG and Shaq have looked. Hopefully they an keep it up.

I think the reason there weren't more threads about it was precisely because people recognized how devastating it must be for Delonte. Nothing we as fans can feel can compare with what he must be going through.

Get well soon Delonte.

Cheated? He's a role player. So the answer is a resounding "no."

Pierce goes down? Garnett goes down? Maybe. Those two are keys to what this is all about - a championship.

But that's me. I have no favorite players. Just a favorite team.

I guess I was looking to see if any was looking forward to watching Delonte as much as I was.  I feel like we were just getting a taste, and now it's gone so soon, and for so long.  Obviously in the big picture Pierce or KG would be more harmful the teams fate if they went down.
