A win is a win, the Celtics didn't exactly impress all that much either against Toronto. Time to stop obsessing about the Heat and just focus on the C's. (oh and cheer on whomever plays the Lakers)
the problem with that is, we weren't hyped up when the big 3 came or this year with Shaq signing that we would just walk on all the teams...
everyone expected us to just be a regular old team, whereas Heat are supposed to break 72 wins this year along with blowing out a lot of teams...
that didn't happen
The Big 3 received almost as much hype as Miami did.
LOL definitely not close.
Don't get me wrong, the Celtics got their fanfare back in 2007, donning the cover of SI, ESPN, and TSN.
BUT, not many (if any) picked them to win, saying (presumably based on the history of the game) they would need time to gel and they were (perceived to be) weak at the PG and C spot.
They then put together one of the most impressive regular seasons of all-time (wire-to-wire best record, nobody within 7 wins of them, double-digit margin of victory) and obviously win the championship.
Then the Heat are formed this season, and they don't face nearly as many doubters as we did. MVP's, best record, championships. You name it, everything is thrown their way. What hardships the Celtics would face back in 2007 would not stop this team, despite the Celtics being a smarter, more complimentary trio. The C's had (and still have) a far superior PG/C combo, much better bench, and excellent coaching staff.
I really don't care about the media, I was fine with the Celtics flying under the radar last season (even being doubted up 3-2 at home vs. Orlando, or not having a chance against Cleveland, or some nitwits picking Miami in the first round).
Miami seems to be the one having problems with the media obsession. Better yet, they are having problems with the rest of the NBA paying attention.
