Instead of coming up with a trade I thought we could have a vote about the subject.

Not at all ... he's become a vital part of the Celtics' system, and gives 110% off the bench, not to mention is number one (by far) in taking charges ... that's great defending. I wouldn't mind trading Wafer, Bradley, Harangody, and even Erden, (for the right player), but Glen's only expendable for "big fish" trades.

He's our most durable Big off the bench. He didn't play well last night, but that could be said about the team in general.

I kinda understand where this is coming from. Baby had a bad game against OKC. Too many jumpers and his missed free throws probably cost us the game. But hey, it's not like it was just Baby who had a bad game. The whole team played poorly.

A bad game? Baby's had bad years. Bring in a wing over here who is capable of backing up for this team. Not someone who causes Doc to call timeouts minutes after coming in, trading baskets with weak opponents that KG dissected prior to his involvement. Just because you run around the court doesn't mean you are giving off positive "energy". He kills what Rondo's trying to do on the court, no flop excuse me charge helps that. He's Kwame Brown, same exact player, no reach, length, but considered mobile. Was LA winning with Kwame, I don't remember. That's right, no. He is not needed, Perk is. If Baby was anything vital to this team, we'd of had an 18 championship, not wishing Perk was healthy instead of HIM. Danny better send his overrated energy away.

He's a role player.  He has an expiring contract.  That means he's on the table.  

Even the most ardent BBD enthusiast cannot deny that he is a role player.

Even the most ardent BBD fan can't look at his numbers and think this guy, now in his 4th season, is anything more than a career backup on a contending team.

Even the most ardent supporter can't say his per-36 contributions of 12.1 points, 6 boards, and 0.3 blocks can't be replaced by the likes of many, many other players.

The only thing, really, is that he knows the defensive rotations and executes them well most of the time.  He takes charges, but only very, very rarely blocks a shot (which should be an expectation for bigs).  My friends, Scal did that.  Offensively, he has that long jumper to stretch the floor.  If given enough time to get a rhythm, Scal did that, too.

BBD does not and can not create any offense; the only offense he gets are due to having better players around him, leading to him being wide open.  On defense, he's a "team defender" more than a 1 on 1 shut-down guy.

Basically, BBD as a player is in the same category as Scal and Waltah McCarty--minimum (or close to it) contract role players off the bench, each of which we have managed to move on from without missing much on the court.

Conclusion:  He should be on the block.

It depends on who's available for him. 

He's a bench player on an expiring deal.  If there's someone better out there or just as good under a longer, reasonable deal then BBD is tradable.

Exactly.  I'm not sure how anybody can answer this question with anything other than a "don't know".  If we can get good value for BBD, he's tradeable.  If we can't, he's not.

Well, based off the responses (all intelligent), then this is truly an open-ended question here.

Of course I would trade Baby, but we are talking a hypothetical situation here.

In a perfect world, we could trade Glen and get a solid PF in return that would be a reliable backup to KG, durable, energy player, and for the money that he is being paid.

Then Reality sets in - I don't see anyone out there or any team out there that would pull the trigger on something that would help us.

Other teams would try to under-sell us, when it has been mentioned in other "Glen Davis Trade" threads that maybe we are the only team that realizes Glen Davis' worth. Of course, other potential "partners" in a trade would say "Well, he's a bench player, a rotation player. Why would we give you what you are asking for in return?"

And that is our dilemma, I think. We know Glen's worth. But in the NBA, would we get what he is TRULY WORTH in return?

Nope. That is why for the immediate future, Glen Davis needs to remain in Green, backing up Kevin Garnett, drawing charges, rebounding better, maturing, improving his play(which he has this season). And unless an absolute Blockbuster Opportunity comes up that will definitely help us (and replace what Glen has brought to us), then we need to hold our position.

IMO, there is no one else that we could get in a "Realistic" trade for him.

The better question to ask is why would the Thunder make such a deal.
