Joey Crawford is the devil himself, but he didn't cost us that one. BBD and Delonte's missed free throws and Rondo's refusal/inability to keep in front of Westbrook did.

the celtics lost this one themselves, but I'm more concerned with the bad calls against shaq and how that might affect his play. He took a charge and got called for a block, I mean, I never saw shaq move so well to take a charge before. Also, every time he closed the lane or boxed out he got called for a foul as the thunder players flopped. It was a joke.

I wanted to blame Joey but found myself yelling "good call" at him a few times.  I thought he actually covered the younger refs and compensated in our favor a few times.

We blew it tonight.

Yeah, while the referring was pretty bad last night, most of the bad calls/noncalls were from the other officials, like when paul was clearly pushed out of bounds.

I can't figure out why this thread would appear after last night's game. I would expect Celtics fans to be obsessed with the lack of defense on Westbrook for 3 quarters (as most in fact are), not on trying to blame refs for our shortcomings.

Makes me wonder if there are people watching refs instead of watching the game.

^agreed with Guava wrench..when I found out Durant was playing you just KNEW Westbrook was going to attack attack attack. I'm sure the C's knew that but c'mon now..no reason to lose to a team without Durant(and Green) at home..

As far as last night's game goes, the loss wasn't from the refs at all. Every time the Celt's were on a run closing the lead down to 5 or so points, they'd get a little too aggressive/sloppy and get a foul called on them(all legit calls) which killed all their momentum..every time. Looked like they'd give up after a call against them, then they'd get back into it again, get another call against them, rinse and repeat.

IMO that flagrant on Shaq was only a flagrant because Westbrook was going 98383 mph and bounced off Shaq..making it look worse than it really was.

The only call I really disagreed with was that "blocking" foul on Shaq that was clearly a charge..on Harden? Seriously? Someone like Harden can really knock Shaq over like that? Don't think so. I was with my friend at the game who is an OKC fan and even he agreed on that one.

Overall the Celtics didn't deserve to win this game at all..they need to play for 48 minutes, or as close to 48 minutes as possible..and not just turn it on in the 4th Q. I kinda knew they'd lose midway through the game anyways because of how lackadaisical(sp?) the team was..plus the fact they were only 1-6 at the time from 3 pt land. Not that they took a lot of 3s, or that they should live or die by the 3 ball, but it's going to be really hard to win a game playing lazy basketball, playing from behind, without getting any 3s.

Count me as someone that thought that 3 by Delonte was going in at the end of the game..I was sitting in section 7(behind backboard) so I didn't have the heads on view as someone watching on TV or someone sitting on the side of the court would, but man if that went in I would've blown up.

As far as last night's game goes, the loss wasn't from the refs at all.

That kind of absolutist statement is what causes conflict. The refs definitely played a part, just as our lazy play, poor rebounding and poor FT shooting played a part. Many, many tick-tack fouls on the Celtics vs. really letting the Thunder play on the defensive side of the ball translated to a big disadvantage. Example: a whistle for Rondo's indisputably clean strip of Westbrook vs. Rondo taking the ball up and Sefalosha bodying him and bumping him all the way with no foul.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

If anybody bothered to watch OKC in Milwaukee tonight, they won another tough roadie without Durant. The Lakers are not capable of winning in Boston or Milwaukee without Kobe and the Heat are not capable of winning in Boston or Milwaukee WITH Lebron.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Some teams have heart, some don't.  I think we know where the HEAT lies....

The Celtics beat themselves with the help of some poor officiating...and when is Doc going to come up with some better end of game plays when the game is on the line.I can't remember Delonte ever being a closer or a consistent 3pt.shooter?...and the PP iso has ran its course as well.

And this is why Tim Donaghy is a hero of mine....for one thing he's not Joey Craw-fraud.

That name is now copyrighted and Trademarked by me.

I like it ... very punny, and worth a TP or two! ;)
I want it to go international. I challenged Stern to a duel. He never showed up.  But I can try to create a national movement [dang it].  Spread it far and wide.
Tim Donaghy is a cheat whose claim to fame is that he got caught.  If he hadn't, he would probably still be cheating.
He's a cheat who was punished and admitted he was a cheat. Craw-fraud is a cheat (as are most nba refs) and we can see it in front of our eyes every night, but if a player or coach says so they get fined or suspended and the league acts holier than all of thou combined about it at every possible opportunity.

It would be better if the mafia itself reffed the games. We'd understand it better. It would be like "Well that guy wacked that guy so obviously he's gonna get wacked back. The players will figure it out."

Remember the playoff game against The Magic last season when Dwight Howard was throwing elbows all over the court. Joey Crawfraud was officiating that game. What a dirty game Howard played and he got away with everything.
