They were doing their First and 10 debate thing, it was Skip "Clueless" Bayless and some other guy.  They were both criticizing Kobe for being in the new Call of Duty commercial.

Never thought I would defend Kobe, but, this was the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.  They were both saying Stern should rebuke Kobe for appearing in the commercial, something along the lines of it was bad for the NBA's image by promoting violence.  It's a gosh darn video game!  Get over it!  I don't even play videos games , but couldn't possibly care less.

Funniest part of it all, was after they went to commercial, guess what commercial came on?  You guessed it, the Call of Duty commercial.  Couldn't stop laughing!

I kind of agree with Bayless.  Not sure Stern should do anything, but I thought it was promoting violence and as soon as I saw it, I knew people would have an issue with it. Personally, I wouldn't have done the commercial if I was Kobe.

Just now saw there is an article by Tim Keown on ESPN's Page 2 denouncing Kobe for this also.  Man, what is wrong with people. Its a video game.  Are people really that stupid they can't seperate a video game from real life?

Seriously, are we now gonna say that kids are gonna pick up guns and shoot people because they saw it in a video game?  Guess personal responsibilty is a thing of the past.  Just blame whoever, or whatever else you can for your wrong doings.

Though I never have an issue with taking shots at Kobe.

HA! Good one.

Although, based on the commercial, I'd be careful about taking shots at kobe.  He might shoot you, literally-LOL!

Definitely a slow news day. While we're at it, let's criticize Wade for causing accidents, and driving into buildings with his motorcycle.

While I dont tend to agree with the notion of video games leading to actual vilence, it is a bit dangerous to blur the line between gaming and reality in a visual context like what was shown in that commercial.

Stern should suspend him just because he's Kobe.

I don't see a problem with the commercial. Should NBA players only endorse sports games and maybe the Sims series?

What if it were a zombie first person shooter?

TP.

I like Skip, but I'm personally insulted with his rationale for having a problem with the commercial, let alone the fact Kobe was in it. The fact that arguably the best NBA player in today's game endorses Black Ops is bad for the NBA's image?  Skip's rationale is that Kobe endorsing Black Ops may scare away Stern's fanbase, and Stern wouldn't like that. That is ludicrous. Who cares that much what Kobe (and apparently Jimmy Kemmel) likes to do in their free time (these days, anyways)? That's all it boils down to; to try and make it out to Kobe advocating shooting someone in broad daylight in real life is flat out ridiculous.

It's. a. freaking. game.

Only would have been bad taste if Delonte was in the commercial and not Kobe.

I have no issue with it.

With that said just for the record, I hate that game, and I hate Kobe.
