I was reading hoops hype earlier today and there are rumors that Billups and Nash might both be available via trade. With Melo set to leave Denver, the Nuggets would surely trade Billups and rebuild. Same in Phoenix, where they are far from a championship contender (even though they recently beat the Fakers). The article mentions that the owner is looking to cut costs and Nash would welcome a trade, especially to be reunited with D'Antoni, but they mention Nash doesn't want to abandon Grant Hill, who also would like to play with the Knicks. The Knicks are still looking for a top shelf point guard to get Amare the ball, maybe we could make this a 3 way and offer Big Baby to Phoenix. Here's the link to hoopshype:
http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htmThis trade works financially:
Phoenix trades: Nash, Hill, Earl Clark, and Gani Lawal
Phoenix gets: Curry's expiring deal, Gallinari, Randolph, Big Baby
New York trades: Gallinari, Randolph, Curry, Chandler
New York gets: Nash, Hill, Harangody, Lawal
Celtics trade: Big Baby, Harangody
Celtics get: Chandler and Clark
Why Phoenix does it: Well only if the rumors are true that they are looking to blow up the team, cut pay roll, and go young. They trade Nash and Hill and they get 3 good young front court players with loads of talent in Gallinari, Big Baby, and Anthony Randolph. They also get Eddy Curry's expiring $11 million deal which could be re-traded at the deadline or they could simply let that money come off the books. They're ready to hand the pg position to Dragic. Celtics could throw in Bradley if needed.
Why New York does the deal: D'Antoni gets Nash and Hill, and the Knicks pretty much become the Phoenix Suns. Not sure why they'd want that, but I can't imagine they'd say no to this deal. D'Antoni loves both Nash and Hill (understandably). Harangody gets to play in MSG where he used to dominate the Big East tourney, but he's a throw-in.
Why we do it: We upgrade from Big Baby to Wilson Chandler. He has potential to be a great defensive player in this system and can fill it up on occasion. Great open court player and can run with Rondo. Could maybe eventually take over for Pierce at the 3. I know a lot of people on this board would love to get him, as would I. Clark just hasn't worked out in Phoenix, but he has tons of talent/potential. We take a flyer on him.
