I posted this in the Fan Posts, but wanted to discuss it here.  The dude's consistency is historic.

Rondo has been ridiculous.  No way he gets Stockton though.  We don't have that systematic of an offense.

Why not?  He has some of the best shotmakers ever to pass to.  I think it's very possible that he reaches that mark.

When both O'neals can play together in the same game, Delonte comes back and all

I wonder if Rondo's ast will go up or down

due to West can handle the ball as well, i want to see Rondo's minutes go down because of his foot issues...but reduced minutes = better production?

Presumably they'll get Rondo's minutes back down to the 34-36 minute range instead of the 40-41 minutes he is playing at the moment. That should wipe two or so assists a night off his average (even if he maintains his exceptional current per minute production).

No reason for Rondo to be a 40 minute a night player when you have two backup guards of Delonte West's + Nate Robinson's caliber. Not during the regular season. Playoffs are a different story.

Maybe not Stockton - but he should be able to Knock out Skiles with 31 vs the Raptors or Twolves this season.

  • Rondo = Good
"Rajon Rondo now has 134 assists on the season. Elias tells us that's the second-most assists a player has ever handed out in the first nine games of the season (John Stockton had more in 1989-90). Rondo has six games this season with at least 15 assists. Every other player in the NBA has five combined."

How many APG do you think Rondo will have at the end of the season? My conservative guess is 11, because I think injuries and inconsistency to the team will prevent him from staying at this level, but he's been so consistent so far it's easy to think that he might actually average above 12, maybe even close to 13.

The last time somebody averaged 12 or more assists per game was 1992-1993 when John Stockton did it. The last time somebody averaged 13 or more per game? 1990-1991 - Stockton again. Oh, and the year John Stockton handed out all those assists in the first 9 games of the season (1989-1990), he set the record for APG at 14.5.

If anything will make it particularly difficult, it is his feet.

The problem with his feet is that it could lead to less MPG. More DNPs would be better for his APG than less MPG. Stockton was insanely durable.

I'd be willing to bet he wins the Assists title this season at least.

Yeah, it's hard to see somebody else eclipsing him, unless C. Paul does it.

It's pretty amazing, to the point where a 17 assist game barely raises an eyebrow anymore.

Paul has surprisingly fewer assists than Rondo right this second.

151 for Rondo, 82 for Paul. Barring injury, Rondo might have that specific title on lockdown this year (Knock on wood)

We have a Point Guard!! It's fun watching him dish out all these assists. 15 Assists/game is better than scoring 30 ppg yourself because you're making your teammates better on offense and defense (saving energy from not working that hard on offense to score your points) and a lot harder to do (never been done before in a season as opposed to many 30+ppg scorers).

Now can we get him to make a 1,000 FT's a day (in Mark Price taught form) in practice like Marquis Daniels did for 3-pointers this summer?
