 Better than Jordan and Pippen.

The greatest talent ever assembled in one off season.

Seventy win season. Will challenge for the best record ever.

Two of the top three players in the game. And a top big man.

Now it's clear. The Heat are not that good.  Not half as good as the Celtics when first assembled.

I can't believe how average the greatest team to ever play looks now that were actually playing games.

  • Rondo = Good
Yeah, they're much more a work in progress than anybody thought they would be.  They can easily destroy weak teams, but against tough teams with good coaching they are still figuring things out.

I've only really "watched" 2 games (as in I wasn't doing something else the whole time), but it looks like to me they play as a talented collection of individuals, as opposed to a team, if that makes sense. Considering that they have one of the best playmaking 2's in Wade, and the the best passing small forward since Larry Bird, they play WAYYYYYY too much iso ball.

Defensively they're playing as a team though.

I fear their offense will come around eventually as the season goes.

Way to early to call them anything.

They are borderline scary in the passing lanes on defense, doing quite well on the boards but their interior defense isnt up to snuff but their defense is up there with our own.

Their main problem, is the offense.. and that might come around during the season, it might not! but it will at some point and i honnestly dont want to see how that team plays when that happens.

I don't think it's too early to call Lebron, DWade, and Lebron's lapdop "Two and a Half Men".

#1.The first time in Lebron's career he's had to play off other players,he's always had them playing off him.#2,from the games ive seen them in when the games have been close in the fourth they can't figure which player is going to be their best option to close.Twice ive seen E.House come in the game cold to take the final shot but failed.#3.At times they've looked like Lebron in Cleveland whereas he takes over and everyone stands around watching him.

Eight games into the season and already pronouncing them dead?

Tough crowd.

It's definitely too early to judge them on the long term but it's really fun to see how the most hyped team of the summer (of all-time?) is struggling badly and unable to win against playoffs teams. They're 5-3 now and will possibly be 5-4 after the game against us on Thursday.

Way to go to win 72 games :D

By the way, the end of the game was just crazy! Millsap (!) draining three 3 points in a row to get to OT and then in OT they won on Elson's free throws without Deron.

Wait a sec I put Miami down as the most overrated team and  took some flak?
Lebron is a great player but there is something about him that I can't put my finger on.  He is a very good passer but doesn't come accross as a team player. (think iverson)  I think they need a REAL strong coaching personality to make the team mesh.  The lack of inside play on both offense and defense means (to me) that they cannot win a championship.  Old fat Shaq in the playoffs will eat them up! perk, dwight howard, gasol etc etc
Miami kind of reminds me of Atlanta but more dynamic/better.  Johnson like Wade.  Smith like Lebron etc obviously better but the team is good in open court but not made for playoffs (unlike danny's team!)
Why aren't they going after Dampier? Or some other big??

Great PG and strong big man play is their early season weakness.

I imagine they will be hard pressed to fill both of those needs this season.

Come playoff time, I can see Wade playing PG more and more with another SG out there.

Much too early to label Miami anything. Lebron has been the key player on an otherwise bad team for years. His whole NBA career he has been the entire focus and switching is not something he can do overnight. Also, comparing Miami to the Celtics title team of a coule of years ago is not quite fair. We had Rondo, a future Hall of Fame point ( at least it sure looks that way right now), Perkins a very, very good defensive center and Posey! If you just take Posey and Perk and put them on MIami right now, with them playing like they did in 08, Miami suddenly becomes an instant title contender if they aren't already.

Chris Bosh called. He said to tell you he's Wade's lapdog, not LeBron's.

They have done that with LeBron handling the ball and Wade playing off it and another wing (James Jones). It got them the lead back in the Utah game before they blew it.

When we got an idea of how the Heat's final roster for the year would look, I figured they were a year away, and if they could get a legit PG and/or C next offseason they'd be serious contenders.  Still looks that way.

But don't forget we still haven't seen their full rotation until Miller comes back in a few months.  Way too soon to bury this team.
