Jason Whitlock takes Bosh to task. BIG TIME!

Just saw this article on Foxsports.com

Can't say I disagree with his assement of Bosh's play, it has been rather laughable.  Bosh was one of the biggest reasons I thought going into this season Miami would fail, he is just way too soft. 

I Disagree though on Miami trading Bosh already, no way that will happen with all Miami has invested right now.  Imagine the fallout in Miami if they have to admit signing Bosh was a mistake, not to mention how ticked off LeBron and Wade would be.

It may be early for that assessment, but so far it has been accurate.  What if the Cavs traded Varajao and Hickson for Bosh?  The Heat would be like last years Cavs plus Wade.  I like Whitlock and it was an entertaining article as usual.  He also referred to KG as a trash talking, cheap shot taking goon.

The issue of size does not start and end with Bosh.



He needs to be the PF.  He needs a big C to do the dirty work.  (much like Perk can do or what the Mavs put next to Dirk)



He needs to play better.  He needs better opportunities.  He needs to rebound like he did in Toronto.


Being the third wheel after being the man for so long is a hard transfer, especially when the other two options (that have the ball in their hands most the time) are not used to having other options to set up.  


The question is, can these three ever successfully adjust to each other to win a series against team with close to equal talent.

Ok, so the Heat are 5 - 2... They've played 7 games.  5 were blowouts, the 2 losses were close games. bosh was an all star last year and is now a third option on a team with two top 5 players... Obviously his numbers are going to be down, but why on earth would they trade him after 7 games? Just an absolutely ridiculous topic. They havent been planning this for all this time to try it out for 7 games and then trade the guy. They wouldnt have put their entire offseason into bringing this guy in for just 7 games.

Excellent article, and he's 100% right. Bosh has always been the reason this would never work.

Lebron in Cleveland failed because he can't be Michael Jordan, and Jamison/Williams weren't good enough to be Scottie Pippen. Wade is Jordan, James can be Pippen.

The rest of the pieces were there in Cleveland, it's James that didn't fit the mold. But you take Bosh out of Miami, and add solid "bruiser" energy players, and that team is scary.

I said it from the minute the 3 Pretenders came together, Bosh is the reason it will fail. He continues to think of himself as a superstar, and he's just not that good. He put up numbers on a bad team only because there was noone else to get them.

TP. And let me back this up with a point I made this summer. Making Bosh the no 3 option completely exposed him. Bosh is good, but no more than a great role player. He's just not a star. Neither is Rashad Lewis or Hedo Turkoglu/they're just solid role players with all star stats. Way overpaid

If Miami got Stoudamire instead, their record would look a bit different. Amare is strong enough/quick enough and smart enough to be a center on a Lebron squad. And he can put up 20 and 10 w/o being the no 1 guy

I wouldn't be too totally shocked if they made some trade of Bosh/Miller for Amare/Wilson Chandler

Since when is Amar'e going to get 10 rebounds? He's also a much much worse defender than Bosh, if anything he's softer!

If you think Bosh is a bust look at how bad Amar'e has been for the Knicks, just awful.

I agree, except I think Miami should have gone after David Lee instead of Bosh or Amare. Lee would be the hard nosed, big man rebounder they need who can also run the floor with Wade and James. Trade Bosh for Varejao and Hickson/Parker, and that team is scary good. Riley must have a move in mind for a big man though, he's not stupid.

I don't think Lee would be all that much better. He's a better rebounder in my book, but again he's a weaker defender than Bosh.

Does it matter?  All provide the same issue.  No one to be the big man defender.  


Let's throw in the other two big time PFs that moved, Jefferson and Boozer.

Where is the dirty job big man?  Where is the back bone of a team defense?  

Averaging 14 points a game when there are two teammates averaging 20 and over on a team with no true PG to keep them all happy (like Rondo and the Celtics offense)


He has two swing men setting him up after they look for their own shot.  No wonder his offensive stats are dropping.  


His rebounding numbers, no excuse.

Bosh would be great if they put him next to a guy like Brendan Haywood, Samuel Dalembert, Marc Gasol, Roy Hibbert, etc.  A big 7 footish dude who blocks shots, pulls down double digit boards, and can't be pushed around easily.

They also need to incorporate him into the offense effectively.  It's not Bosh's fault if James and Wade don't really know how to use him properly.  Bosh has barely rolled to the rim on pick and roll plays this year, even though last year he was second in the league in FG% when finishing at the rim on a pick and roll (behind only Dwight Howard).

The Wade / James and Bosh pick and roll should be absolutely deadly.  Instead, they're going mainly with the pick and pop, which forces Bosh to be even more of a jumpshooter than he has been in the past.  It's no wonder he's not rebounding or scoring as much, or shooting as good a percentage from the floor.

Bosh is not a center.  He's not a more athletic version of Big Z.  The more the Heat (LeBron) try to use him as one, the more they will be disappointed.

While I think it is too early to form opinions based on the first few games, I see no problem with people using the games as evidence for views they already held as Whitlock may be doing.
