WHAT AN OVERREACTION.

Nate has a couple of bad shooting nights and then THIS thread is made... ridiculous. I assure you he hasn't forgotten how to shoot. Every shooter goes through slumps; you could point at every single player on the roster at one point in time and say the same thing. Give it a week or two, and Nate will be going off per usual.

This thread is useless.

When West comes back, I can see his minutes go up (and Rondo's go down a little)

I don't think they want Nate running the offense by himself to often.  It doesn't take advantage of his best talent, scoring.

But because of size issues, they don't want him and Rondo on the floor together very long.

When West is back, I can see those two as the backcourt for longer stretches of time to give Rondo and Ray more break time during the season.  West has the size and the ability to initiate the offense to get Nate going.

Just my thoughts.

Nate has always been a streaky shooter.  It will be back.

I think he’ll get better once Delonte returns and becomes the primary ball handler off the bench.

I actually think that will hurt Nate's game.  He is not a spot up shooter*.  He plays much better with the ball in his hands, pulling up off the dribble.  Conversely, Delonte IS a good spot-up shooter, and is a little out of control with the ball.  So personally I hope it doesn't happen like you're suggesting.

It looks to me like Nate and Rondo don't mesh too well on the court together.  Nate can't seem to find his niche as a 2 guard (again, because he's a poor spot up shooter*).  I think Doc needs to change up the personnel he puts out there with Nate in order for him to be more effective.

*According to hoopdata.com, Nate was only assisted on 35% of his jumpers out to 23 feet, and 58% of his 3s.  For comparison, Ray Allen was assisted for 79% of his jumpers and 92% of his 3s.  Delonte was assisted on 80% of his 3s last year in Cleveland.  Hence, Nate is poor a spot up shooter and scores best by creating his own shots.

I keep waiting for Nate's shot to start going down.  This is very surprising.  Yes, he is streaky but he is also a good shooter in general.  I mean, I don't think the entire preseason was just a hot streak.  I figured Nate would average 10-12 pts per game this year.  It doesn't look like that will happen, but he should get it going soon.
It's pretty obvious that Nate Robinson plays better with more minutes.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I dont know...   I like the way West and Robinson compliment each other in the backcourt defensively.

But I'm not sold on Delonte's ability to initiate the offense any more than Nate's.

He's not going to get them for the Celtics. Nate's size precludes him from much time at the off guard and Rondo demands 35-40 minutes a game.

I think Nate is having a hard time dealing with his reduced minutes in comparison to the preseason.  He hasn't been effective yet during the regular season and as a result he's not getting more minutes especially since many of the games so far have been tigher ones.

Then when he gets in he really wants to make an impression but presses too much.  I do remember at least a few of his 3's where in and outs or rolled around the rim.  I do think he'll come around and probably will be more effective when paired with West.

I think this is right.  I think Doc needs to do a better job getting Nate and the rest of the bench regular minutes.  I think he'll do a better job once Delonte and Shaq are back and he doesn't have to contend with playing guys like Wafer and Erden.  Once that occurs, there should be enough firepower to leave the bench out there longer.  And once Nate gets solid minutes, he should produce more.  But it's hard to shoot yourself out of a slump if you only get a couple opportunities per game.

Noticed Dahntay Jones is on bhe block. Could he help our bench? Good defender, especially on Kobe. Interested if the price was right.

Kind of early to judge players performances i think, especially role players that only see a limited amount of minutes as it is.Lets give him at least till after Thanksgiving.

Completely agree with this. Delonte stalls the ball very much when he is in control of the offense. Both Nate and West are better at the 2 guard position which might cause a slight problem.

And no.... I'd actually rather have Von Wafer.

Not a rotation worthy player but a solid end of the bench, 13th or 14th man type. Good defender and good athlete but not much else to him. I'd like to have him as a fifth wing on this team.

The big problem with Jones is he's earning $2.5 million and has three years left on his contract. Big commitment for an end of bench player ... definitely not worth his paycheck. For that reason + the complication of matching salaries in a trade for him ... I wouldn't pursue him.

But I'd happily have him on a minimum contract stashed away at the end of the bench otherwise.
