I don't think contacts handed out this year will effect the CBA negotiations all that much.

Wow.  He's not even a full MLE player IMHO.

They overpaid for Rudy Gay too.

And their arena is empty: it's actually uncomfortable watching the games played there.

5 years $45 million dollars?

 :o

Rondo's deal is looking better and better.

Good Lord. You sure you're not missing a decimal point in there, Faf?

Good to see I'm not the only person whose mouth dropped when I read that number. I think he should've gotten 5 years between $30-$35m. They basically paid him for the preseason and this season's first 3 games... Just not a smart move by the Grizz - esp with OJ Mayo and Marc Gasol extenstions on the horizon. They're gonna end up spending a lot of money on a mediocre roster, and failing to make any substantial money on ticket/merch sales... Just further proof that incompetent GM's are just as much of a factor in the CBA issues as the players' demands.

The owners really need to look in the mirror with their apparent "financial losses."  While I don't have much sympathy for either side, they should stop paying barely good players like they are superstars.

  • Rondo = Good
The Grizzlies are setting themselves up to be the Western Conference's version of the Hawks.  Ceiling around 45-50 games at most, 1st or 2nd round roadkill for good teams.  Locked into a youngish core of players with All-Star, but not superstar, potential.

Wow. I don't even see him as staying a starting point guard in the league.

does this make Marc Gasol a max contract guy?

This means they will trade Marc Gasol to the lakers to save money  ;D

Maybe we can entice Chris to trade Marc for Semih... He loves euro guys... we can even throw Von in for old times sake.

I like Mike Conley, but not that much.  He's an MLE guy, IMHO.

Rondo's deal is looking better and better.

Did people initially scoff at RR’s deal? I was incredibly pleased with it, especially after his performance in the ’09 Playoffs.

Cue the Jaws Theme

Just when you think NBA GMs can't get any stupider, Chris Wallace strikes again.

Apparently it's actually 5 years/40 million.  So not quite as terrible, but still pretty bad.

He shouldn't be on a deal longer than 2 - 3 years given his output level. Years is the bigger issue with all of these types of deals.

Feel good story counter: Jared Dudley's 5 year extension.
