Thank goodness the Celtics have a GM that knows what he is doing. $9.0 million a year for Conley. Ugh!!

Hail Dannyy Ainge!

Rondo's deal is looking better and better.

More like Chris Wallace is looking more and more incompetent...

I was surprised to hear that as well. Mike has played well in the preseason, and to start the season, but I don't think he is a 9-million-per-year kind of player. I like the Grizz a lot, and think they are headed in the right direction. That said, however, they are overpaying their young players. Well, not the rookies coming in of course (see Henry, Xavier), but the young players up for new contracts.
“Being a Celtic is, every decision you make is about the team. Every cut you make is about the team. Every pass you make is about the team. You take yourself out of it. It’s not for everyone. If you don’t want to win, don’t want to play team basketball, and it’s more about you then you’re probably not a Celtic." Doc 2010

Bad contract.

They have extensions down the road to worry about and this will only complicate matters.

That does seem a bit high. Then again, I never thought much of him.

I will trust the team for now because they can better evaluate his improvement. Maybe he really has finally figured it out.

Wow.  Conley's an underrated player and seems to be improving, but he's nowhere near a $9 million per guy.  Especially given that the new CBA will probably drop salaries quite a bit.  How does Chris Wallace still have a job?

Premature decision. They should have waited until next offseason.

Conley hasn't proven enough to get that type of money.

Yeah that's my thoughts as well. There aren't enough teams with cap space to truly threaten to steal him away.

Rodney Stuckey and his agent are nodding that this is a good deal and are going to keep demanding similar money.

I'm not sure how much GM Chris Wallace had to do with this signing. This has Lionel Hollins written all over it. I am guessing he pushed this contract through, that he talked Michael Heisley into doing this deal.

Three big contract extension talks coming up with Zach Randolph, OJ Mayo and Marc Gasol. This will make those talks incredibly difficult + it pretty much locks them into their current group of players. Committing to that core and trying to build a title worthy team around them.

That team's ceiling is probably "one & done" in the playoffs.  Maybe sneak into the 2nd round if everything falls right.

I bet Stern doesn't like it much either - hard to have the owners crying poor with this example of largesse for a player of Conley's stature.

But regardless, he now joins the ranks of the overpaid, and it wasn't a smart move by the Grizzlies management.

I don't know if that's funny! My stomach churned when i read it!
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.
