Jermaine "disappointed"

I don't like the quotes where he complained of his confidence being at an alltime low.  That fits right in with the perception that Jermaine is one of the most mentally weak players in the league.  I couldn't imagine anyone else on the team making a comment like that.  Jermaine needs to grow a pair, but it's too late for that.

I read it as he is not happy with his performance. 


He is adjusting to a new role, but he says he is ready to do it.


And finally, he says he needs to get himself on the court by getting healthy.

I read this story completely differently.

I think he's disappointed he hasn't been healthy enough to stay on the floor, and when he has been on the floor he's been rather inconsistent. I think that's what he's truly disappointed with.

I understand his frustration since we feel the same way about him.

Hopefully he can get (kind of...) healthy soon and find his rythm and spot in the rotation.

Jermaine just needs to get healthy is all. His injuries have affected his conditioning. After three close games, his defense and play will be a welcome addition when he's close to 100%. Meanwhile, he should also grow a pair and man up because we'll need him later. Disappointed, sure, but I'm glad he's here.

It's just very frustrating for us Celtics fans to see this. I think from his past he can be a great member of the team, but when is he gonna get well?
It's just tiring to see him, when he seems to be getting well, to then go out there and not play well, and seemingly to get hurt again. Or maybe he's going out there hurt to begin with and is making the injury worse. That's not good planning.
Somebody needs to decide who is hurt and then do what needs to be done to get them well. No playing through the pain, not at this age. That's just dumb. --only my opinion.

Jermaine has become a Mark Blount scorer: feast or famine on the 15 foot jumper.  So far, famine.  He has absolutely no inside game, no posting skills, and for us to expect him to develop any this late in his career, healthy or not, is just unrealistic.

I take all his comments as well meaning, good, thoughtful comments.  
I do like the point that unlike 'Sheed playing through an injury Danny has given this years team enough depth (right down to erden!).
If Jermaine isn't full ready to go he doesn't need to or can play 10 minutes a night.  Same with Shaq, Perk doesn't have to come back to early with a chance of reinjury etc.

For three of the last four years, he's averaged 68-70 games, so he's going to miss a few.

I think he'll also hit his 13/7 averages over those years, by the time the season is done.

I think he's a good fit with Rondo, because he can hit a shot.  All that said, Big Baby could eat his lunch, which I was not expecting.

A plea to all to give Jermaine 20 games (if playing) or half the season if he's hurt before drawing conclusions.  This doesn't mean not commenting on performances, but rather, not calling him a "bust" or failure until some time has passed.  Premature conclusions have occurred for TA, Baby, Perk, Erden, Scal among others over the last few years.  Not to say that the aforementioned have all proven early critics wrong, but just saying that premature conclusions can be aggravating. 

Incidentally, it's happened in reverse too -- as with Gerald Green who will need to be on Medicare before some will give up on him.

JO looks like he's fat this season. That's what's holding him back.. plus not being in shape leads to injuries which is why he never sees the court.
