The answer to this topic is quite simple - I think the Portland "Jailblazers" a few years back would provide the most "crazy" group possible

Damon Stoudamire, Qyntel Woods, Zach Randolph, Rasheed Wallace, Ruben Patterson, Bonzi Wells, Shawn Kemp, Derek Anderson, Darius Miles.. Only player they were missing would've been Artest, at least in my book. Gilbert Arenas would probably have made that team as well!
They were also the all-stoned team.

Some would claim there's a causal relation there, however I won't go that far!

Thanks for the comedy, I hadn't been considering past players but there certainly is a lot of history that adds to the all crazy team.

After starting this post I realized that someone would get on it because of it's lack of political correctness, so I apologize for hurting any feelings. However, I have several friends who suffer from mental illness including bipolar and schizophrenia as well as substance abuse problems. Whatever, the cause, whether it is within a persons control, a conscious choice or not, I have no problem labeling someone as crazy because they do things very far from the norm. It's simply a descriptor, an adjective, to identify someone that acts consistently in a way that raises your eyebrows.

Feel free to pile on...

I think Isiah Thomas, Stephon Marbury, Delonte West, Latrell Sprewell, Ron Artest, Dennis Rodman, Kevin Garnett, and Rasheed Wallace would make a great all-crazy team.

Depth would look like:

Thomas/Starbury
Sprewell/West
Artest/Sprewell
Rodman/KG
Wallace/KG

You've got Isiah as player/coach, because... why not? Starbury eating vaseline. Sprewell is choking Isiah. Delonte rides off the bench on a three-wheeled motorcycle because Artest is in the stands with Rasheed, who got ejected a quarter ago. Rodman would join the fray, but doesn't want to fight in high-heels. All the while, KG is on all fours barking at the opposing team.

Even with 8 players, I doubt you could keep 5 on the court.

Funny stuff, TP!

Agreed.

I think that's fair.  I too have close family and friends that suffer from mental illness as well as substance abuse issues.  Hey we're all a little crazy, right?

Vin Baker was my secret pleasure (I loved watching him play) and my heart cried at his downward slide.  I don't know where you are now, big man, but I hope life is being kind to you.  He got a lot of grief from Celtics fans for his problems, but when he was able, he still brought whatever he had.  Like JO or 'Sheed, when you get an aging talent you have to take the problems along with the benefits.

Just read about this the other day - Vin is actually doing a tour for a book he wrote about his alcoholism, and working on alcohol abuse outreach too.  He seems like he has a handle on his drinking, though you never know, unfortunately.

Content:  I can't believe no one has mentioned Marvin Barnes from back in the day.  In addition to substance issues and general flamboyance, his team once had a flight from Louisville to St Louis that arrived 3 minutes earlier than it left (because of time zones).  Barnes refused to fly, saying "I ain't getting on no time machine".

Thank you so much for posting the videos of Vin Baker, fairweather fan.  I had read that he had filed for bankrupcy and had his house foreclosed a couple years ago.  I hope that his renewed outlook brings him peace.  (Anyone who knows his, or her, way around a kitchen will never be completely lost!  ;D 0)

EDIT: Forgot Gilbert Arenas, for more depth at the 2, and to give Delonte a gun-buddy. Updated depth chart would probably start him and make Sprewell full-time backup 3.

thread's over, this guy wins
