I thought the C's played hard, and got the sense that the loss was more a result of the starters playing big minutes in a big game the night before. They were probably riding an emotional high, hopped on a plane at 2 am, and flew into Cleveland overnight. Add on to all of that the fact that certain guys had bad games last night (Jermaine, Shaq, Ray, Pierce, Nate, etc.) and it seems like more reasonable that the loss came from being outplayed rather than losing because of effort. Kind of a perfect trap game.
I don't think we can take this one game and assume the Celtics won't play with enthusiasm for the duration of the season. Maybe that will end up being the case, but were only 2 games in, let's just wait and see what happens.
