I thought the C's played hard, and got the sense that the loss was more a result of the starters playing big minutes in a big game the night before.  They were probably riding an emotional high, hopped on a plane at 2 am, and flew into Cleveland overnight.  Add on to all of that the fact that certain guys had bad games last night (Jermaine, Shaq, Ray, Pierce, Nate, etc.) and it seems like more reasonable that the loss came from being outplayed rather than losing because of effort.  Kind of a perfect trap game.

I don't think we can take this one game and assume the Celtics won't play with enthusiasm for the duration of the season.  Maybe that will end up being the case, but were only 2 games in, let's just wait and see what happens.

Was anyone else confused as to why Shaq didn't get the and one in the first few minutes of the game?  Cavs couldn't have been in the penalty that early.  He made the basket and got fouled.  At first they counted it but waived it off, saying he was fouled before the shot but then he went to the line for two.  If he wasn't in the act of shooting why is he shooting free throws and if he was why didn't the basket count?

It was because Shaq was fouled, and then he traveled before he shot the ball.  Since he traveled, they could not count the shot, however, he was in the shooting motion.

That's still a lame call by the refs, in my opinion.  If he travelled after he was hacked, I don't see how they can say he was in the shooting motion.  Wishy washy.  I say that's got to be either an And1 or a non-shooting foul, side out of bounds.

Its continuation.  It clearly was a shooting foul.  But you can't allow guys to score illegally after a foul, and count it.  My only problem with it is that they don't make that call more often.  A lot of players (Lebron) get away with traveling after a foul, and then finishing, and it really should be this call.

Take this from a betting man, and trust me I def am one, that even the best of teams struggle on back to backs.  I will stay away at all costs on teams with back to backs even if its the Lakers or Celts, or Heat.  Teams like teh Lakers and Celtics will lose to mediocre teams on back to backs, especially on the road.  They didnt get to Cleveland till 3 am.  PP probably looked tired, not bored.

For me it is not apathy, it is about conserving fan energy until Tax Day 2011. Then it is a nine week push to Glory. I'm not going to get all worked up over a Game 2 loss in Cleveland although I find the scheduling of that quite interesting.

I suppose if Doc were running for a political office in Ohio, he would be a favorite right now.

Basketball is not politics contrary to what David Stern believes.

Yes, and there are several back to backs coming up. It's definately tough on anyone, especially the traveling and jet lag. I'm sure it effects all teams the same way.

True when it is half way through the season, end of a long road trip, etc. Not true when it is night 2 of the season and you sat out half of the preseason. How is that hard to realize guys?! It's night two!

Yes, it's night two.  We lost.  We looked awful and sluggish.  So, either these guys are good for nothing bums, or they are just too darned old, or they were a little tired from the huge game against Miami, took the Cavs for granted and got caught in a trap game. 

I think it's the latter, and that it's no big deal.
