Great thread title, TP ot the OP. Exactly my thoughts

I came home last night, turned it on near the end of the game expecting a blow out that I could then sit back and watch on my DVR...and what do I see? A recurrring nightmare theme from last year.

Varejo / Hickson / Moon / Parker & Mo Williams. Really? Are you kidding me!?

I agree with one poster who said if the starters don't come out and dominate, bench them. I'd rather watch our bench guys lose, but go down swinging, than watch an apathetic, passionless effort from a bunch of future hall of famers, any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

It makes me want to vomit. You get "paid" millions of dollars a year to "work". Put you hard hat on and bring it every night, or don't even show up to the arena.

I'll tell you what, I watch Bird, Magic and Jordan. Even at the very ends of their careers, sometimes without a championship hope in legitimate sight, they still brought it every single night like it mattered.

Right now, there is a reason all those guys have multiple rings and our crew has only one.

My meaning? Had they not mailed in so many losses last year, they probably would have had Homecourt, which most likely would have meant #18. Every game counts.

Ok, I feel better now.

This being said, I do think our bench is better this year. When Delonte, and for that matter, Perkins come back, I think we'll simply have alot less of this apathy than we did last year. I hope. We should.

The truly great ones like Jordan, Bird and magic, never mail it in. Why? It's not in their DNA, they can't do it. I don't care how bored you are, you get apid alot of money to "not be bored".

I jsut can't stand the apathetic efforts. No way you should ever lose that game. Ever.

Can anybody here explain to me how on gods green earth we surrender more points to the cavs than to the heat?  That is just blatant lack of defensive effort and execution plain and simple.

Well. We can now strap in and prepare for the roller coaster effort that we saw last year in the regular season. All you had to do was look at Pierce's face all game to know that he was bored. This blog is going to go crazy all year if they come out and fail to give the effort needed to win close games against mediocre teams. Then comes out the ref card, the turnover card, etc.

If the starters don't have the desire to come out and give that effort then they need to play a lot less minutes. Rondo went from hero to goat as usual in one game. Take it seriously out there guys or let the guys on the bench come out and play. Why did I pay for NBA League Pass again?!

I didn't see much of the game, but why was Rondo the goat?

They come off a big game and a big win.

The next night they play a Cleveland team that has lost Lebron James.  (as well as other key role players like Shaq, Big Z and West)

Their "best" player is out with an injury.

In the NFL, they call it a trap game.

The Celtics were doing the same thing I did while I was watching the game.  The fell asleep.

It is a lose they shouldn't have.

To me, it tells me they are not worried about the number 1 seed, again.  They will be a top 4 seed, again.

First of all, it's only 1 game. Secondly, everyone knew that Cleveland was going to be fired up for this game. Thirdly, while Cleveland isn't going to be a great team, I don't think they're going to be the doormat everyone's expecting to see.

Just want to say 3 things:

1. I think Glen Davis is truly leading by example. Heart, hustle, and muscle!

2. I was extremely disappointed with Nate Robinson last night. He had Marquis wide open underneath the bucket during a fast break but voluntarily chose to chuck an off balanced shot off instead. That's simply not Ubuntu.

3. Guess why Anthony Parker hit that 3-ball....because Rondo failed to defend him. I mean come on Rajon, make it hard for Parker to at least catch the ball and the shot clock will expire. Instead, Rondo failed to press his man which led to an easy catch and shoot.

Eh, I heard Mike say that as well, but I didn't see a passing lane there.  The way the defender was playing it (he was playing both guys, and sitting in the lane), it would have taken a perfect pass to get it to Daniels.  Given that Nate is not a great passer, I think he made the right decision, since the pass had a great chance of being another turnover.

That highlight was on espn. Nice moving pick by AV that Rondo had to go around.

Was Sessions getting by Rondo the difference in the game though?

I understand that some fans are concerned about age taking a toll on this team, but the venomous anger by some is more than a little annoying.  This current version of the Boston Celtic's success over the last 3 years has been based on being the lunchpailiest team in basketball.  They've been winners based on toughness, basketball intelligence, sacrifice, togetherness and effort.  These are the hallmarks of this team, and to call them lazy bums based on a lackluster loss in November is, as far as I'm concerned, out of line.

Was anyone else confused as to why Shaq didn't get the and one in the first few minutes of the game?  Cavs couldn't have been in the penalty that early.  He made the basket and got fouled.  At first they counted it but waived it off, saying he was fouled before the shot but then he went to the line for two.  If he wasn't in the act of shooting why is he shooting free throws and if he was why didn't the basket count?

It was because Shaq was fouled, and then he traveled before he shot the ball.  Since he traveled, they could not count the shot, however, he was in the shooting motion.

Okay.  Thanks.  Was doing something else and didn't realize he had traveled.

That's still a lame call by the refs, in my opinion.  If he travelled after he was hacked, I don't see how they can say he was in the shooting motion.  Wishy washy.  I say that's got to be either an And1 or a non-shooting foul, side out of bounds.
