I don't hate them. It's way too early to talk about standings, but I just think that as things look right now, there's a good chance that Miami might finish third in the east and I don't want to meet both Magic and Heat in the playoffs (even though both don't scare me). It would be much better to see them wear each other out.
I'm sorry, I totally see what you're saying, but I don't agree.

I watch basketball for fun. And honestly, nothing would be more fun than beating the Magic, then the Heat and then the Lakers in the playoffs.

TP, I think the exact same way. I want us to beat all of these teams, and I want to see the Lakers in the finals.

Btw, my girlfriend keeps mentioning this, but now I noticed it too:

We really have a nice crowd in Boston. Last season slightly less so than this season, but last season was ... well... let's not go there again.

I noticed this because of the Dallas Miami game; you hear their announcer voice (in stadium) call out "Let's Go Mavs!" and no one repeats it. Same for "Defense" chants.

In Boston, you hear the Defense-Drum ONCE, and the crowd goes "DEFENSE!"

Or are those soundbytes or something? :p

LOL! Dallas turned into the Celtics, giving up a 20 point lead. They are only leading by 5.

It's been a "runny" game. Both teams having 10-2-like runs, one after another.

Sacramento should lineup like so

Starters: Tyreke + Casspi + Garcia + Greene + Dalembert
Rotation: Udrih + Landry + Cousins
Reserves: Head + Wright + Thompson

With Udrih playing 27-30 minutes a night as a backup guard and Tyreke sliding over to the two + with Landry as their sixth man and main go-to scorer on their second unit and with Greene sliding back to a wing position.

Heckuvva PG match-up between Paul and Westbrook tonight.  CP3's getting the best of it thus far, playing a much smarter game; Westbrook is still too wild.

Westbrook ended up winning out with sheer aggressiveness and athleticism.

Paul was too easily taken out of the game by aggressive trapping from Green and Durant.  He countered by putting the ball in the hands of David West down the stretch, which was pretty disastrous for the Hornets.  West is not 1st banana material.  Sort of a rich man's Big Baby (minus about 40 pounds of course). Hornets need a quality scorer other than Paul to have any shot of contending.

As for the Thunder, their defense is returning to last year's form.  Durant and Ibaka owned the paint late, Westbrook wreaked havoc in the passing lanes, and Sefalosha completely neutralized Bellinelli (not starter material).  Their offense remains wild and erratic.  Durant and Westbrook are thoroughbreds in space, but bulls in a china shop in the half-court, taking wild shots, turning the ball over and depending heavily on foul calls on forays to the rim.  They need a calming factor on offense who can get them to run a few plays and get the ball moving.

I got a chance to watch the Pacers play Sacramento for awhile tonight.

As I tuned into the game, I wanted to focus on Roy Hibbert.  I've heard nothing but how much he's improved from last year.  He is definitely in the best physical shape I've ever seen him in, and he's a gifted post player - he has good touch and knows how to use his length, and he has very good vision for a big man.  As the game went on, however, some other players took my attention.

I'd forgotten how good of a scorer Danny Granger is.  He torched the Kings from just about everywhere on the court.  He has 37 on 12-19 shooting, and he hasn't had to dominate the ball to be effective - his points have been very much within the flow of the offense.

Hibbert's stats are good, but for the most part he was thoroughly outplayed by DeMarcus Cousins (although Cousins battled foul trouble for much of the game).  The rookie tried to lead a comeback in the fourth quarter, but it ultimately didn't go anywhere as the Kings couldn't get any stops and Tyreke couldn't get it going.

In a way, Cousins reminds me a little of Carmelo Anthony in that they both make it look so easy.  He seems to have a decent midrange jumper, and he's very quick and has a very good handle for his size.  He doesn't know how to play NBA defense yet (and I doubt that will ever be a strength, honestly), but when he stays on the court and plays with effort, he is a force.  He even made a few hustle plays tonight, which is a good sign.  As long as his attitude and his effort level are where they should be, he'll be a heck of a player.

Pau Gasol's slumping, Shannon Brown cooling off and their defensive weakness at the 1 and 5 are all converging on the Lakers at once.  And it is delicious to watch.

I could care less how many games the Heat lose.  I want the Lakers to fail.

I'll be honest... I'd feel sorry for Kobe Bryant if he wasn't Kobe Bryant.  Pau has had an awful game, Odom has disappeared in crunch time, and he's really having to do it by himself.  Shane Battier has given him fits and hit some huge shots of his own.

Good comeback win by the Rockets.  Lakers have dropped four straight.

I want them to fail, too - but just wait until June 2011 to do it ;D
