Da'Sean was just released by the Heat, who needed to trim down their roster.  He's still rehabbing from his injury, but his game was never really predicated on great athleticism and he presumably is still a talented player with potential.

If we're a ways into the season and we don't need Von Wafer anymore once Delonte comes back, I'd be intrigued by the idea of picking up Da'Sean, if he hasn't been picked up by some other team by then (he most likely will be).  If it weren't for his injury he would've gone in the 1st round.

If Von Wafer is playing badly, then yeah I'd give Butler a 10 day contract or two and have a look at him.

Definitely worth a summer league invite next summer if available.

I doubt he'll be available for summer league, unless he really doesn't come back well from that injury.

I don't watch much college hoops these days, but I did see this kid play in the tournament and he definitely looked like a legitmate NBA prospect.  Very unfortunate injury for him.

We don't know why the Heat dropped him.  It could be because they just need healthy bodies or it might just be that he isn't recovering from injury too well.  I mean it's pretty early to give up on a guy that had high expectations.  If it's the former, I see other teams swooping in, and if the latter he's not going to help us.

If Wafer gets a regular spot in the rotation, he won't get moved.  He's an Eddie House shooter who can drive to the hoop.

Would be interested, not thrilled with Wafer and don't think he fills a real need once Delonte comes back. Unfortunately I think Butler will be gone by then. More promise than Harangody if he can make a decent recovery. Great PPierce protege - if....

They definitely needed extra bodies.  He probably makes the team if Miller doesn't get injured and they don't sign Stackhouse.  They're so weak at center that they have to carry four centers.  If they had cut a center, it would probably be Magloire, since they handed a three-year contract to fatboy project Dexter Pittman.

I was at that NCAA regional game in the Carrier Dome when he tore it up in the 2nd half to help his team upset Kentucky. He seemed like a big time clutch 3-point shooter. I can't say I've seen that much of either but he's probably similar in a lot of ways to Wafer.

He definitely has talent and would be a pretty good fit for our team off the bench, but who would you replace. Our team is pretty solid right now, maybe if someone is playing bad, but at this time everyone is playing pretty well and would only say if Wafer is playing bad then yes pick him up, but definitely a summer league invite would be awesome if not earlier.

Yeah, I think he is much more of a summer-league guy.  If the C's pick up anyone midseason, if will be a veteran.  The most Butler could hope for would be a situation like the two guys got at the end of last year, where they were basically signed to sit on the bench in the playoffs and then play with the summer league team on an extended tryout.

While Butler is an interesting prospect, there are too many talented guys out there to single him out at this point.

I wanted the C's to draft him before he got hurt. He had 6 game winning shots last season. Probably wont be able to contribute until next season though.

This would be a good signing, makes alot of sense. Developing a 6'8" shooting wing, but it won't happen. DA is looking for players that who are undersized and hovering around 300lbs with range. He's more into shooting guards that can play the wing position. He don't have time for Posey prototypes. Good wire watch though PosImpos.

Mid Season pick up of a player that couldn't make Miami's roster?

If somehow Boston is ravaged by injuries and even then they already have 15 and would probably just carry less players.  I'll put the overall chance at about 1%.
