Does Delonte have chronic back problems? Where is this coming from? I did not follow his injury status with the Cavs; but I also don't want to jump to conclusions.

He had a broken wrist in Cleveland and similar types of injuries with the C's first time round.

I was not saying he has chronic back problems. I was saying he has the potential for chronic back problems. Here is a link I found that outlines his history of back problems and other injuries.

He has missed time in 2007, 2009 and April 2010 with back pain/spasms.

It looks like he's missed something like seven games in his career due to the back issue.  I don't see it as a major debilitating concern at this time, to the point where it would justify cutting him.

It's something that could linger, but I don't think there's any evidence that this will incapacitate him.  That being the case, I can't think of any healthy SG who is available that I would want more.

Delonte was going extra hard because he wanted to get in as much time as he could before the regular season suspension kicked in. The only reason for concern now is how he will deal with the extended down time; but again his trade value now is limited and we don't know if there are really any problems that could not easily be dealt with during the extended down time.

My hope is that he just needs a little extra rest. My fear is that we pin our hopes on him and he isnt able to come through for us physically. His greatest values will be his playmaking, shooting consistency and energy off the bench. He will not have any of them if he has to battle a sore back.

I say cut him... 14 healthy guys on the bench is more appealing to me than 13 healthy guys and one risky guy who cant dribble.

Let's be candid, though:  if Delonte came out and scored 30 ppg, you still wouldn't want him on the roster.  The guy has filled up the stat sheet this preseason, and has shot 58% from the field.  He's looked amazing back in green, and our team has looked better with him on the floor.

Regarding this thread, I don't think Delonte's health is a huge concern.  He may miss games, but if he does, hopefully Marquis, Nate, and Bradley can take his minutes (and Wafer, too, if he makes the roster).  I don't think there's any justification at all to cut him.

I am not entirely sure I agree with this. Especially when West is playing the point guard position. Stalled offense, no movement, rushed shots in the shot clock.

Not based anywhere in reality. That 1-2 punch worked extremly well and was effective in the games we saw it in.

Just because you say it doesn't make it so, and as Roy pointed out, your take on Delonte is well known and doesn't exactly make you impartial.

It would have been like coming to me for my take on tony allen before he was let go, he could be lighting it up and I'd still have found flaws :D

Even if some don't like Delonte, they have to be willing to accept when the team is effective with him on the floor. Otherwise, it seems like just stubbornly closing one's eyes, plugging their ears, and yelling "Delonte sucks, Delonte sucks,...".

Delonte has played very well this preseason. I wasn't a big fan of Delonte, but he's earned the spot. Hopefully he stays healthy, and keeps playing good defense. He always was skilled on offense, but now he's matured and makes good decisions.
