Von Wafer at the end of the 76'ers game

I was watching the end of the 76'ers game and there was about 15 seconds left and Von Wafer had the ball.  Nate seemed to be calling for it but instead Wafer turned around towards the bench in order to let the time run out.  After that it appeared as if they had some sort of exchange, I'm not sure if it was an arguement or not but Wafer passed the ball to Nate and he took a deep 3.  Did anyone else notice this?  Is this a reminder of Wafer's attitude problem?

Since Wafer was turned to the bench, could it be that he was receiving some instruction on how it wasn't necessary to pad stats with garbage time points?

I don't look at it as padding stats, the way he turned around while everyone else was setting up for the play kind of seemed like he wasn't into it.  And if anybody were to pad stats I would expect it to be him.

The Celtics over the last few seasons typically just let the clock run down on the last possession of blowouts. I can't blame Wafer for not passing to the shot happy Nate for a pointless basket.

Yeah maybe I'm just overreacting lol, I'm just not a big Wafer fan.  I'm rooting for Lasme for that 15th spot

Before that, with 2:30 remaining, Wafer had the ball at the top of the key. To his left Daniels popped out and seemed to be either looking for the ball or the play. Wafer just sort of dribbled and stared straight ahead. Then Daniels raised his arms as if to say "What are we doing?" Wafer finally took an 18 footer that clanged off the back rim.

I can't stand this guy's body language. I also think we might be the only team in NBA history to have too much depth at the big positions and not enough at the wing.

I agree with you that this play looked bizarre. I don't think Nate would be yelling for the ball if Doc wanted to run the clock down, but you never know with Nate.

I agree that Wafer's body language is poor. I've been thinking that maybe it was a matter of him trying to hard to fit in with the team concept and not look like a ballhog, but maybe his attitude is off. I don't know.

As to your second point: I won't say it's impossible, but it's highly unlikely that a team can have too many big men, especially a team as old as ours. I do agree that the wing is the weakest position on the team, but I wouldn't call it weak; Marquis is playing well behind Pierce(I know, Quis is injury-prone, but I won't worry about that unless and until it happens), and Delonte, though a bit short for the wing position, has a well-rounded offensive and defensive game, complete with good 3-point shooting. If the C's keep Lasme (I think he's leading the race), he at least has good length, reach, athleticism and shot-blocking, and I think C's fans need to admit that he's been a bit of a pleasant surprise this preseason.

After Nate had hand-fed Wafer those technical FT opportunities?  The issue has been Wafer not taking the shot when he has it, not that he hasn't held onto the ball long enough looking to shoot.

if wafer stays on team i  will be very upset, we don't need him, to me his attitude is showing to be worse than sam and steph put together

I agree.  I want the Wafer experiment brought to a rapid close.

Wafer's body language shows a guy who lacks confidence right now. That could change on a dime by hitting two consecutive jumpers, just ask Harangody.  I did not detect any attitude problems in Wafer's play last night. Saw a guy who hustled quite a lot.
