You have to be kidding if you doubt lasme....or maybe you just don't know skills..! That guy has "go-to-the-hoop" power...moves and the hops...! Wafer is sort of like what was it...Darrin Day.....he is 6'5"...looks like he could do it, has a good build....wafer is a maybe also..but you HAVE to keep Lasme.......
Because he has done something in the regular season NBA that we should have all seen?
He has played 16 games in the NBA, back in 07/08.
At best, he is the teams 7th big man? Possible 8th?
I will be surprised if he makes the team.
And even more surprised if he lasts the season.
Most here said the same thing about Leon Powe....BBd as a big man, only plays hard when someone threatens his playing time. Every time doc played sheldon, bbd went out there as hard as he could. oneil x 2 are not young, neither is kg or any of our big men. Lasme will also be our youngest big man with energy, jumps and good position knowledge. Throwing away a guy who not only GETS the ball, but knows what to do with it. A guy like this, with his rebounds and inside play, he gets the other team in FOUL trouble EARLY, other teams HATE guys like this.....that is why LEON was so valuable. If the guy can jump, gets good position and can dunk on a dime, the other team will foul him constantly, one big man does it 3x, out till past half time. No one else really goes at it like he does..fearless...a guy that wants it this bad is great to have...!
If he was trying to make those teams, he might of had a chance. Though, he would have been far behind those two as well because of his age. Upside of a younger player outweighs the upside of a 27 year old.
Not to mention every 2nd round pick I have seen Ainge draft had been given at least one year.
Not now with the depth the Celtics have. KG, Perk, Shaq, JO, and Davis are all clearly NBA players. Edrin is a 7 foot project. Harangody is a 2nd round pick this year, so he is safe.
So that is 7 big men. Do the Celtics need a project 8th big man that is 27 year old? Can almost 50% of their roster be big men?
He is up against the numbers game.
Now notice I have not said a thing about his game in this whole argument. Let's be honest, at best, he has a fringe NBA game. If he was trying to hook onto a lotto type team or a team weak on big men, he would have a legitimate shot.
But not on a title contending team that already has two big men projects ahead of him.
