The last few years he has had some monster dunks in the beginning of the season, and I think "where did that come from!!??"  He doesn't have many like those later in the year.

I just finally saw some preseason C's that I dvr'd on a nice tv and can now see what phenomenal shape Paul is in.  He looks ten lbs lighter than he was at the end of last year.  His arms and shoulders actually have some definition- something I've never seen.  He looks lean and mean.  Maybe his new wife is cooking some healthy stuff or limiting Paul's booze intake.  Regardless, Paul looks like a rookie again.

I was at the Celtics/Nets game last night he looked great! Quick, slim and aggressive. I think he will have a great year.

Yes it has only been two games but Pierce looks real good. In Manchester his shot was falling nicely, and last night he had some great explosiveness and quickness in his steps. I think he realizes that he is a) getting older and he wants to keep his body in shape b) his time to win a championship with the Celtics is slowly winding down c) he made some offseason news with his new contract and he doesnt want to disappoint fans and d) the new so called "big three" is in Miami, Im betting he wants to prove to a lot of people that he is as good as they are down there. I am very excited to see what he has to offer this season.

I expect the same this year.

With Shaq onboard and KG healed, Pierce might end up shooting a lot of 3's again like last season. I am fine with him doing what he must to preserve his body in the regular season.

Conversations about Paul's physical conditioning always come up.  Paul looks great right now, and he generally does.  But, Paul does not have a Ray Allen type physique.  It kind of comes and goes a little bit with him, as far as how lean he looks.

I don't think it's as linear as he looks good early in the season, and then starts to look flabbier as the season progresses.  I actually feel like he goes through different stretches throughout a season depending on nagging injuries and when his little rests happen.

I've got to mention, though that Paul Pierce has been one of the league's most durable players among upper echelon guys of the last decade.  Except for the season from hell that he basically took off for some long term respite on his body, Paul had very few major injuries over his 10+ years in the league.  His ability to take care of his body over the years will absolutely be one of the things that stand out when our captain's legacy is written.

Pierce is sneaky athletic... He has never been the skinny guy. Even in high school I remember him being a little pudgy but still challenging Vince for the MCD All-American dunk contest.

Pierce will never be as slender and cut as Ray or as defined and ripped as Iguodala but he definitely is in good shape. It would definitely be great to see him jumping and throwing down on the base line and in the lane all the time like he did during the old days.
