never been a hater but I've always thought we could trade davis for a more complimentary fit. I now see there is probably no better fit then bbd. His terrific energy, team oriented play and ever improving, ever, expanding game has sold me. (see his turn around, fade away over the big Z!)
nate, west, danials, davis and JO are a hell of a BENCH MOB!

Are the Baby haters still out  ??? ::)

Maybe Jevi could be considered a "hater", I don't know, but just b/c someone here isn't in love with Davis then it doesn't make them a hater.

I for one believe that over a large sample size Davis is overrated.  No, that doesn't make me a "hater".  As far as last night's game, he did some things well, but was put in a few bad positions too (i.e. Davis should not be asked to make entry passes to the post.. that was disasterous).

He was 6 for 7 from the field... that is NOT going to keep up for a full season.  I liked what he brought last night and am happy to have him contributing.

You don't have to be in love with him, no one is saying that, but to consistently state he's a bad player or not good enough to even be on our bench and should be traded for... another bench player is well..... ::)

I'm hot and cold on BBD, and I absolutely get why some people don't care for his game.

But saying he single-handedly allowed Miami to come back and played a terrible game after the line he put up and the unanimous praise he got from Doc, his teammates, the media...yeah that's hater territory.

really? I was at the game, and I though Davis was the reason the celtics were able to withstand the Heat comeback. He played great on both ends of the floor, especially in key situations.

That's my point - a previous poster said Davis was awful and almost cost us the game, because their run started with Davis on the floor.  That's not my opinion, I think he did great and was our most valuable big last night.

I get why too but, we probably differ on the reason.

That's not hater territory that's much worse, sadly.

Not sure what you're implying, but I think most people who dislike Baby do it because he gets blocked a lot down low, struggles to get defensive rebounds, is often inconsistent, and has had some attitude problems.  A minority seem to just hate the guy to the point that he can't do anything right, and we've seen one or two of them here - how anyone could think he hurt the team last night is beyond me.  But most people that don't like him are coming from a reasonable place.

I'm not firmly entrenched in either camp here.  On one hand, I like Baby's hustle, fearlessness, and ability to knock down the jumper.  However, on the other hand, you have to also question what his size did on the defensive end.  One of LeBron's drives that made the game close in the final two minutes would've certainly been rejected had Jermaine or Perk been on the floor instead.

He also has the benefit of playing with 4 All Stars.  Remember how good Austin Croshere looked in the late '90s playing with Mark Jackson, Reggie Miller, Rik Smits, and Dale Davis?  Enough for Indy to give him some ridiculous amount he could never live up to.

Not a knock on Baby; he's a good player.  But last night's game doesn't annoint him as an All Star.

You don't have to be in love with him, but when someone (Jevi) bashes Davis after a clearly good game with some ridiculous arguments, then IMO this is a hater territory.

What attitude problem?  Crying when KG was talking to him?  That's not an attitude problem. Breaking his hand before the season? That's not an attitude problem.  Saying he's not sure of his role?  That's not an attitude problem.  Anything else?

I would agree with the above.

However, if one steps back and realizes that Davis stood out as playing well last night and was still only good for 13 points and 5 boards in 29 minutes...well those are "quite good backup numbers." So I think while only a "Hater" could say that Davis almost cost us the game last night, only a "Koolaid Drinker" could look at Davis's game last night as evidence he should be anchoring the PF spot as a playoff starter in a year or two.

As is usually the case - the fan boys are at least as irrational as the haters. There are very few players in the league above criticism, BBD is not one of them. "Haters" will continue to criticize him in response to praise, because they are providing the other side of the argument. Others (like me) will continue to post trade ideas that sometimes involve BBD, because we like thinking about trades that would make the team better, and because we think another player can make a bigger impact than BBD.

Saying "you cannot just see the awesomeness of BBD because you don't have the ability to detect awesome, even when its being blared through your TV at your eyes" is not a strong argument for BBD. And id someone sites stats that make BBD look like a bad player (such as leading the team in the minus part of +/-) you do need to refute that with some sort of logical argument. And no saying "that stat is dumb" is not sufficient.

That all being said - I'm hoping for great things from BBD all year, either it helps the team win or it helps the team trade him for quality.

Dude he's doing a great job chill out.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Another 'consistently' good game for Baby tonight. What awesome defense! He deserves his own op instead of this tired one, but I'm hoping someone else will write it because I'm very tired tonight.
GO BIG BABY - GO CELTICS!
So glad season is here again. It was very depressing not having my team to watch every other night, my happy addiction.

If Perkins can come back and play at 80-90 percent, there will likely be an excess of big men. If it is before the trade deadline, I wonder if the Celts won't try to make a move and unload one of their big men? Not sure if it will be Davis, and obviously this depends on how healthy the big men are when Perk comes back.
