I was messin around with the Trade Machine, trying to see different scenario's involving trading Melo.

ANd of course i wanted to see if there was a reasonable way/scenario where Boston can someway, get something out of a "mega-deal" involving Carmelo.

I dont know if this would ever happened...but at the same time, the deal in my eyes, is somewhat reasonable, and slightly realistic.

Let Me know what you think: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2act82f

Denver gets
Chris Kaman
DJ White
Big Baby Davis

OKC gets
Oliver Lafayette
Eric Gordon

Los Angeles Clips get
Carmelo Anthony
Tony Gaffney

Boston gets
Jeff Green

BBD isn't good enough to land Jeff Green.  If Denver was going to move Carmelo, why would they end up with BBD, rather than Green or Eric Gordon?

I see the reasoning for 3 of the 4 teams, which is better than most trade ideas, but I don't understand Denver's incentive.  Carmelo for Chris Kaman and a couple of role players just isn't very good value.

I agree with Roy. If Denver pulls this trade oof for Melo they will be wanting young(25 years old or less), potential stars, starters on very short contracts and picks. They might take a huge trade exception as well.

The package you put together makes no sense for Denver. If you take Boston out of that scenario and Denver ends up with jeff green and Eric Gordon somehow, then that makes sense.

Yeah, I definetly see where Denver getting Baby and Kaman for Melo isn't equal deal. But what hypothetically assumed (which i know is a stretch) is that Denver will be making deals involving JR-Kenyon-Nene-and maybe Chauncey as well. So I assumed that they would get other pieces that would somewhat compliment Kaman, and Baby.

But like i said, I was just toying around, until i found somethin that worked, and was somewhat reasonable.

Doesn't make sense for OKC either.  Why give up a 3/4 and get a 2 in return when they have James Harden?  Whether or not Harden will be better than Gordon is yet to be seen, but they invested a high draft pick in him, I'd be surprised to see them give him on up already.
do it

What it is possible Harden is better in the long term, Gordon is significantly better at this point.

I think they do this deal if they can, and try to move James Harden+a draft pick for a servicable offensive 4. Too bad they didn't do this before the deadline, tehy couldn've made a play for Boozer.

I could see something between Denver and the Clippers.

Some that work now:

Kaman, Bledsoe, Aminu, Deandre Jordan, plus one LAC 1st
for
Birdman, Melo

or, the biggie, that Sterling would never do but would be REALLY interesting:

Kaman, Baron, Deandre Jordan, Aminu, Minny First and future LAC 1st
For
Birdman, Melo, Billups:

Billups/Bledsoe
Gordon/Foye
Melo/Rasual Butler
Griffin/Gomes/Cook
Birdman/Craig Smith

Now, if they wait until close to the deadline, it gets easier. In the first scenario, Bledsoe needed to be included just to make salaries work, but Denver has Lawson. I'm sure Denver would rather get the Minny pick instead of the Bledsoe pick, but it's hard to see the Clips giving up Aminu, Bledsoe, their own first and the Minny pick in one deal, so if they wait:

Kaman, Aminu, Gomes/Foye and the Minny first plus an LAC first
for
Melo, Birdman

LAC Now:

Baron/Bledsoe
Gordon/Foye
Melo/Butler
Griffin/Smith/Cook
Birdman/Smith

Denver Now:
Billups/Lawson
Afflalo/Smith
Harrington/Aminu
Nene/Kenyon
Kaman/Kenyon

Denver Future
Lawson
Afflalo
Aminu
Nene
Kaman
Plus their own (high) pick, the minny 1st and an LAC first.
Denver's plan:

Eww, Carmelo on the Clippers? Wouldn't that just go to Lakers' fans and Kobe's head?

While it would be nice if the Clippers suddenly emerged as a playoff-level team and a threat to beat the Lakers we all know that that isn't something we should expect out of an organization that has been deemed the 'most disappointing basketball franchise' in the entire league. I mean, Carmelo already has it difficult enough trying to get past the Lake-Show with the Nuggets but to now have him playing second-fiddle to Kobe in LA with a team that isn't even as good as the Nuggets to begin with (no Chauncey, J.R., K-Mart, Birdman, etc.) just seems like it would be a waste of talent (similar to having LeBron James waste away in Cleveland).

This might be a little off-topic but I tried using the trade machine myself trading players from the Celtics, Bulls, Nuggets and the Bucks:

The Nuggets Get:

Lou Deng from the Bulls
Andrew Bogut from the Bucks

The Bulls Get:

Carmelo Anthony from the Nuggets
Glen Davis from the Celtics

The Celtics Get:
Ty Lawson from the Nuggets
Taj Gibson from the Bulls

The Bucks Get:
Avery Bradley from the Celtics
Nene Hilario from the Nuggets
Luke Harangody from the Celtics

It's a pretty primitive way of moving Carmelo to Chicago, also the Celtics would have to give up a valuable role-player in Glen Davis however I didn't really put too much thought to it as I created the trade while I was reading the topic and the responses before mine  ;D

Well, Bogut is injured right now, but you're probably right. I mean, there is pretty much no chance that the Celtics would trade Kendrick Perkins while he rehabilitates from his leg-injury.

well also bogut is not unlike kg is to boston....milwaukee loves him for what he brings to the court and needs him badly, but nobody else will value him as high in a trade.

Glen is playing rock solid off our bench.  Not ready to see him go, here.

The Celtics are doing pretty well with their current roster, and Denver is my pick in the West again this year.  I do NOT appreciate you guys trying to pull a Lebron James on me and messing up the chemistry on both teams!     >:(
