Doc likes his 7man bench to consist off 4 guards/wings 3 bigman. Off the bench ShaQ is big#1, and Baby is big #2. So by default Erden will be big#3 for the time being while Perk is out. Since the theme off the season is Size, Size, and more Size. I think Gody will be the one going to the Dleague. I may be wrong. Its non-issue for now since neither of the guys will be in the rotation this season (knock on wood 4 the superstitious one).

If we see him play any "meaningful" minutes this year then our season wont be going so well.

Or the human victory cigar, When Celtics bulldoze teams. Clifford Ray new pet project. And if he pans out, The gullible me thinks Semih will be long-term backup Center behind Perk.

With Perk out, only 2 players won't be suiting up.  Figure Bradley and Erden for that honor.  I'm pretty confident Gody will outplay Erden in camp to get 12th man until Perk is healthy.

One other item in Gody's favor, C's have JO, Shaq and BBD that can play center whereas Gody can play power 3 or quick 4 if need be which isn't exactly a role filled by anyone else on the roster.

I don't know. The way to impress Doc is defensively. I have my doubt about Gody on that end. Undersized @ 4 and is slow @ 3. If the language barrier doesn't hinder Semih learning curve, Otherwise Semih is a solid defender right now. We will see

In theory, the OP is right; however, I don't think Doc and Danny are too worried about what happens in November if our 4 big men get in foul trouble.  If we're playing the King, I think we could live with Paul playing the 4 for 5-10 minutes in what ultimately will be a pretty meaningless game.

So I think we'll go with the best talent, regardless of position.  So Erden will have to earn it.

Talking about Avery is interesting because, Doc plays the guys that play defense, if Avery plays anything that resembles Lockdown defense he will be the the 2nd PG after rondo.

I really hope that Erden doesn't make the active roster over Harangody. Erden is basically Patrick O'Bryant version 2.0 while Harangody is at least Big Baby 2.0. One has a chance to be a player in this league and the other has pretty much one discernible talent: being tall.

Neither of them will likely do anything meaningful with their time on the floor, so we might as well develop the player with far, far more potential.

Erden won't play this season. The guy can't guard centers. Against Greece, he wasn't able to hold a position in the paint at all, and Schortsanitis was able to push him around at will.

And if we're looking for filler at PF, between the two suspect defenders, advantage probably goes to the one who can shoot. So expect Harangody to log significantly more minutes. Barring anything unforeseen, Erden will be in street clothes most games.

He really looks like a bust at this point.  I mean I want him to be a Turkish Bill Russell as much as the next guy.  But he will never be much more than mediocre, I fear.

Can the 60th pick in the draft, signed to a minimum contract, ever be considered a "bust"?  If he plays one NBA minute, he's exceeded expectations, in my opinion.

I think that if Erden turns out even to be mediocre, he'll be a huge success.  I'm not expecting any contribution from him at all, but for the 14th or 15th man on the roster, it shouldn't be a problem.

I will point out that I have been reviewing every Turkey game over on the "Semi Erden Watch" thread.

Semi shut down Schortsanidis, at least in the last 3 quarters.  The second Semi would leave the game and Asik came back in, so did Baby Shack, and they went right to him in the post.  So I guess Kozoldoev is inhabiting an alternative universe.

Ballin obviously doesn't watch the games.

In response to the OP, I will point out that JO has averaged 60 regular-season games the past three years, Snaq 63.  That adds up to 41 roster games for Semi just due to injuries.

Harangody is on the active roster for 82 games; Daniels and Wafer sit if necessary.

Harangody vs. Erden will come down to who picks up the NBA game the quickest.  I wouldn't be surprised if they both went to the D-League this year at times, though perhaps not at the same time.
