I think we still need a solid backup small forward.
Can we trade a 1st round pick for Rudy after signing Delonte?
(roster's full?)

I think D-west signed a non-guaranted contract so I'm not sure if this officially brings our roster to 15 but I think it does. So in order to get Rudy we would have to trade a current player on the team and probably a draft pick.

Thank God. The signing of Delonte should put a stop on all the "bring Rudy Fernandez to Boston" talk as Delonte is the same type of player and takes up that role Rudy would have taken.

Oh wait...

You mean I'm posting this in a "bring Rudy Fernandez to Boston" thread? God will these things never end?!?!?!?!

Rudy seemed like a good idea a week ago, but we just don't need him anymore.  I would have liked to see him in green, but West will play the role fine, and we didn't have to give up anything to get him.

I don't think signing West to a non-guaranteed contract changes any trade scenarios for Fernandez.

Rather it means that such trades aren't going to happen and Danny has moved on to fill out the roster.

Thing about Rudy is...

Two things, really.  One, I see him as primarily a shooting guard - a potential long-term replacement for Ray.  Doesn't have the bulk of Pierce, don't see him as being able to check LeBron any better than the cats already on the roster.

Two, he's Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing now that he wants playing time.  Let's say we could trade a 1st rounder for him (free up a roster spot by cutting Semih, for example).  He'd still be coming off the bench behind Ray (and maybe Piece, a little).  Even if Ray and Pierce see their minutes cut to 30-32MPG, that leaves maybe a total of 32-36 minutes/game for their backups....  which wouldn't all go to Rudy.  Those minutes would be split between Rudy, West, Quis, maybe Wafer...  maybe trying to squeeze some minutes for 'Gody at the 3 (just to see if that's even feasible)...

Dude's been complaining that he's only getting ~25 minutes a game in Portland....  well, I don't see how there's even that many minutes available in Boston.  People have been worried about Shaq or Delonte being disruptive in the locker room...  what about trading for a dude that thinks he should be getting starter minutes, would probably be getting less than 20/game, and who had already Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ed his way out of one town and threatened to go play in Europe?

I don't know how accurate these are...  but Yahoo! Sports has Rudy listed as 6'6", 170#.  170!

Pierce; 6'7", 235!

LeBron, 6'8, 250!

Hell, Ray Allen's listed at 200.  Avery Bradley's listed at 180.  Our point guards - POINT GUARDS - Rondo's listed at 186, NATE FREAKIN ROBINSON listed at 180.

How many 170 pound dudes in the league who can play small forward?  Forget his height - he's a guard.

Well, we could hire Scalabrine as his personal nutritionist - that would probably bulk him up...

Rudy is out guys come on. He has been a pipe dream for almost a month now.

His AGENT says he won't play in the NBA, not just the Blazers, but THE WHOLE NBA.

I think it's doubtful that he still comes here, but if Danny can get him for pennies on the dollar why not?  He's an asset with potential.
Plus, Ray is REALLY old for a guard, it wouldn't be a total surprise if his play dropped dramatically this year.  Having a backup two guard with lenth and less personal issues than Delonte and Wafer wouldn't be a bad thing to have.

The signing of West makes this less feasible.

I'm pretty sure that was a bluff by the agent that the Blazers quickly called.

But either way, he ain't coming here.

I hope not - as we have seen in the Worlds, he's no defender.

I think that the Celtics could live with cutting Erden if Rudy becomes available at a reasonable price.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

It would take a lot, and I mean pie charts, graphs, expert testimony, etc. to talk me into trading a first round pick for Rudy because he might be a slight upgrade over Marquis.

guys we need these first round picks, i dont care if they are in the twenties, that is Danny's wheelhouse. Three years from now i still want to be good!
