I think it's doubtful that he still comes here, but if Danny can get him for pennies on the dollar why not?  He's an asset with potential.
Plus, Ray is REALLY old for a guard, it wouldn't be a total surprise if his play dropped dramatically this year.  Having a backup two guard with lenth and less personal issues than Delonte and Wafer wouldn't be a bad thing to have.
It occurred to me, and you are not the first person who has said, "and less personal issues"...how do you know that?  Seems to me that Rudy has plenty of "personal issues" that Delonte is dealing with his and Wafer is at least saying the right things...

See, I'm of the opinion that adding Rudy to the mix would be at least as "dangerous," chemistry-wise, as adding Shaq and Delonte were.

Rudy's complaining basically that he wants to be a starter, or at least get a lot more playing time than the 25 MPG he's gotten.  Forget the fact that his field goal percentage is under 40% for now....

So, he's whining for playing time.

"I'm never going to play in Portland again!"

"I'm going to go back to Europe, I'm taking my ball and going home!"

...  and so let's say Boston acquires him, for a draft pick or two and the Gaffney/Lafayette contracts.

How many minutes is he going to get?  Please, forget about Rudy playing behind Paul; the dude doesn't play small forward, and while he may be 6'6" he's one of the lightest players in the NBA (please, find me someone who weighs less than his 170#).  He doesn't rebound enough to play the 3 in this system.  He doesn't do anything except shoot jumpers on the offensive end.  Not a slasher, not someone who posts up.  Can't match up physically against LeBron, or almost ANY small forward.

So, he's a shooting guard, through and through.  How many minutes are there going to be behind Ray Allen?  Fifteen?  Eighteen?

How many of those are going to go to Delonte, or Von Wafer?

Let's assume Doc Rivers runs a three-guard lineup for the backups.  How many total minutes at the 2/3 positions?  Maybe thirty, thirty-two a game behind Pierce and Ray.

Rudy's Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing and moaning because he wants to play 30 minutes a game...  but he's not the ONLY backup wing who would be in position to get on the court.

Rudy wants to play, and Rudy's agent wants him to play so they can get paid.  Even if Delonte splits his minutes at the 1 and the 2, and even if Wafer doesn't command that much PT...   Quis is in the mix, too.  And maybe the rook.  And *maybe* the other rook.

Where are the minutes for Rudy in Boston?  And if there aren't even 25 minutes a game for him here, how long until he starts Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing and moaning and threatening to go home again?

With the signing of Delonte, Rudy is unnecessary on the court and, I would argue, a bigger risk to team chemistry.  He's proving that he's all about his OWN opportunities, not about trying to fit into a winning environment.

The only way I could see Rudy coming here and dealing with the even shorter supply of minutes, would be b/c he wants to play for a team winning franchise. Blazers were good last year and year before, but that team lives and dies behind Brandon Roy.

Now, say we traded Avery Bradley(most expendable due to position and Lafayette/Gaffney have ZERO value) and a draft pick for Rudy. So all Rudy has to do to get the bulk of the 6th man minutes is beat out Delonte,Nate,Quis and Wafer. And really, I think it'll come down to Pierce still playing too many minutes and Quis/Wafer take turns playing SF. Then Nate and Delonte will fight over combo PG minutes, so Rudy would be the primary SG backup. Remember, Ray played better when he finally was able to play less than 40mpg.

SIDE NOTE - Right now we have 17 players on the roster, so Gaffney and Lafayette are bound to be cut since there's noway they outplay anyone else on the roster. So maybe make it a 3 for 1 trade, and let Portland decide who to cut of the 3
Can't stop, Rondo!

I've read a lot about Rudy's poor World Championships, but has he really been so bad?  He's at 12.8 points per game, 7.4 rebounds, 72.7% FG%, on two pointers, and 43.5% from three.

Most people only saw his play against team USA, which wasn't good.

I haven't seen him play other than that either, but the boxscores say he's been doing alright.
