Do the Patriots have to do anything about Brandon Spikes?

I know that this site doesn’t like getting into these types of “promiscuous” conversations but i think this is pretty big.

Spikes is a starting MLB in NE’s 3-4 defense. He’s a rookie that is being in-trusted as a big part of this team’s future. Now this has happened (if you don’t know just google his name).

What do the Patriots have to do about this? Anything? What if this happened 10 years ago? 5 years ago?

I think Doc is the one who may have the real problem.  At least at the time of the Draft, Spikes was dating his daughter.

I don't think what Spikes did was necessarily the smartest thing but its like like he was pulling a Christian Peter type move, either.

I don't think the Pats need to do anything besides maybe Belichick pulling the kid aside and telling him to grow up.

From the little I understand (and I'm at work so I don't want to spend too much time googling for the video), it is the type of thing that warrants some words of contrition from Spikes and that's about it.  As I understand it, it happened a while ago, is not something that happened while on the Patriots.

I agree with this.  It is really none of the Pats business.  BB (and Doc) will talk to him about being more careful, but ultimately, it is a non issue.  

He is lucky that this leaked this early though.  Outside of NE (and many in NE), no one really knows who he is yet.  If they had held onto it for a few years until he had made a name in the NFL, this would likely be much more embarrasing.

So, what I want to know is why the NFL is investigating this as it relates to the Player Conduct Policy, since it sounds pretty clear that this all happened when he was still in college?
